Pip's skinner - bugged?

This item says ‘also serves as a skinning knife’. I thought this item previously removed the need for a knife in classic but I can’t skin using it if I don’t have a knife in my inventory. Is this new? Am I missing something?

It used to be, in vanilla and classic, you had to have it equipped to get the bonus, now you just have to have it in your inventory.

My issue is it’s not registering as a skinning knife at all. If I don’t have the vendor knife in my inventory, the game tells me I need a knife. Very strange

Does the item say that it gives a bonus for skinning in the tool tip? If so, then you’ll want to report it as a bug in Bug Reports.

Yes, this is the dagger from the beast. It says it serves as a skinning knife, and also provides a +10 bonus when equipped. I will submit a bug report ty for the recommendation. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if its just me :frowning:

Pretty sure you have to equip it to use it as a skinning knife and to get the bonus

I can confirm the same exact issue. I deleted my normal skinning knife after noticing the flavor text. Luckily I had time to buy a new one and fly back before my UBRS run started.

Yeah the knife when equipped gives the +10 Skinning like it’s supposed to but does NOT serve as a skinning knife by itself and it is supposed to. I also sold my regular skinning knife because Finkle’s skinner is supposed to serve as both weapon and skinning knife but you get the “requires skinning knife” when trying to use it.

Same issue - its not acting as a skinning knife equipped or in inventory.

I believe the problem here lies in the fact they renamed it “Pip’s Skinner” and somehow broke the item…back in my day when it was named “Finkle’s Skinner” it worked perfectly :slight_smile:

Yeah I’m gonna guess when they renamed it it unchecked whatever flag boxes items have. Still not sure what was wrong with Finkle Einhorn in the first place.

If I had to guess I would imagine “Cancel Culture” took a bite out of poor Finkle’s Einhorn! :slight_smile:
