Pickpocketing

Why has blizz forgot about this? I just returned after a very extended break and pickpocketing has 0 benefits now.

And where are lock boxes for that matter

Pickpocketing is a terrible way to make gold nowadays, I like to do it when I’m bored in M+ on my rogue. Sometimes I can’t but it’s a fun way to pick up some silver in halls of atonement.

I know its worthless to make gold. It’s a forgotten mechanic. I thought for sure with the Whistle from WoD and the Lamp they would make something like that. BfA nope. Still nope in SL. Sad

Things like pickpocketing and archaeology are being forced to the back burner. It seems the ā€˜end game’ push is the main interest anymore.

Such a shame, because I like the open world/casual content most of all.

You can find lock boxes from pick pocketing, but I think it’s pretty rare.

There is one cute thing about pickpocketing.

Get the glyph that lets you assume the appearance of the target. Then go pick a murloc pocket, and during the short duration of the appearance, do somewhere and dance. Because murlocs have, without equal, THE best dance moves in the game. :upside_down_face:

It was de-facto removed in BFA and completely ignored in Shadowlands. They just make it pointless now. The least they could do is allow engineering rogues to slip bombs into mob’s pockets.

Strewn about my characters’ bags because I haven’t leveled a rogue yet, and Kevin gets tired.

You don’t have to level a rogue to pick lockboxes. You only need to roll one, so you can mail lockboxes to them for them to store for possible future opening.

Nah though. Rogue is level 50.

Everybody should have a rogue to mail lockboxes to, even if they are only level 10.

Okay but whats the point if the rogue cant open them? Might as well just mail em to a bank alt

The lock picking change is that you don’t have to manually level it, so now the required skill is irrelevant and the minimum level to unlock matters. Low level rogues can’t do them all

I guess nobody read my post and understood what I was saying.

Obviously, the level 10 rogue is a lockbox alt that only exists to mail lockboxes to, who collects them and stores them in the bank.

And this is what actually makes a game that you can keep playing, not daily chorse, or a rush to the finish, but casual enjoyable content that can be done whenever, however and whyever.

I understood what you were saiyan but, if one has no intention to level a rogue to the highest lockpicking level then what is the point in mailing lockboxes to a rogue as opposed to any other class?

They pared down as many of the RPG elements as possible.
It’s bad design.

Just look at archeology: Here we are in what is most likely the largest archeological gold mine of the entire multiverse and THIS is the expansion they choose to kill archeology in.

We are, quite literally, searching for ancient writings to decipher the language of the progenitor race’s progenitor race’s progenitor race. Why don’t we have Brann Bronzebeard here, or Hordeside the Reliquary? (and by decipher the language I mean ā€œIgnore the language completely and click the thing on the menu so poopy-plop can learn to do bleed damage because reasonsā€)

Well, the rogue COULD be a blacksmith. They can make keys to open locked boxes. And in SL, inscriptionists can make a scroll that functions as a key.
I must say, though, it’s DAMNED annoying to have the skill to unlock a SL box, but still be unable to ā€œuseā€ it and actually open the thing, because you’re not yet level 60. That was a flat-out MEAN thing to do.

Haven’t gotten 1 yet and most of the mobs i try I get no pockets lol

If you have a scribe they can make a scroll to unlock the boxes. Same as a bs can make a key
