With the new Annihilator Meta it seems like Battle Trance is much too difficult to keep up requiring 8 auto swings of big bulky 2 handers to set up and takes almost 20 seconds to refresh for some reason (even with Wild Strikes from crit proccing). And resets everytime you change targets
The big 3 ‘Mandatory’ PvP Talents locking in Fury Slaughterhouse, Battle Trance, and Enduring rage have capped us very hard on choices.
It seems like knocking someone’s damage out for 6 seconds in this bursty zugzug melee meta of DH, Rets, Warrs, and ROGUES will just outshine barely able to make proc a tiny heal which is much more useful for duels or BG’s.
Edit: I feel this talent to be fair to Annihilator should require 4 weapon strikes not 8. It’s only 2 Wild Blows for ‘traditional’ build of the button that is 80% of the rotation and takes 2 seconds to proc. And is MUCH more friendly to target swap and ramp up time.
Not a replacement for MS. But a powerful tool against melee heavy comps.
Slaughterhouse will still be worth taking I think but it might be important to consider the healing capabilities of your opponents now rather than taking it 100% of the time.
Fury was always sub optimal when they didn’t have an MS effect. Even in its nerfed state, I’d rather have any MS rather than none.
I won’t replace Slaughterhouse and Enduring Rage I think
The disarm I always adored on Arms as further CC to stop being hard focused. Dropping BT seems a good idea now,s ad to say I loved that talent for keeping lots of healing in a fight. At least for Arenas and WPvP i guess
I disagree with this. The current Annihilator meta for PvP is stacking haste to counteract the long ramp-up time. It also does work to dealing with some of the Slaughterhouse nerf, though the nerf is very severe to the point that it’s suggested not taking it if you’ve got another MS effect.
Battle Trance is a huge part of our sustain, but Warbringer is the meta 3rd pick, and not required, either. In BGs, I’ve personally opted for Bloodrage to deal with kiting, but it varies comp to comp what you should take.
Considering a 3.6 base weapon speed, it would only take 14.4 seconds to build trance without any haste whatsoever. With 50% haste, this drops down to 9.6 seconds.
So Ive learned a few things from testing: Annihilator actually triggers trance on the 9th strike, and annihilator cannot refresh battle trance. It will instead refresh on next annihilator hit after it falls, even if you had no attacks inbetween or if you cancelled it instantly. I believe the reason for the latter interaction, is because after strikes 1-9, strikes 2-10 are considered another 9 consecutive strikes which would then trigger trance, effectively giving it full uptime, so they made it so trance cannot refresh until it falls.
Also, since the first 2 strikes start instantly, my math was technically wrong, but also right at the same time since annihilator triggers on the 9th strike. If it triggered on the 8th like its supposed to, it would actually take 10.8 seconds with 0 haste to trigger trance, but since it triggers on 9 it is delayed til 14.4 when the next set of auto attacks come in. Anyways, with 50% haste while enraged, the initial trance should still take about 9.6 seconds to start, and then refresh near instantly when it falls as long as you keep auto attacking. It should only be 7.4 seconds, but 9th swing and what not.
I was at the gym last night when I saw this, but I went and tested this just now and it took me ~10 seconds of just auto attacking to proc Battle Trance. No Enrage, no Wild Strikes–just Berserker Stance.
You’re geared wrong or missing attacks or something, since in a realistic scenario in combat I would proc this even faster, especially when using Odyn’s Fury.
I don’t know what you mean by capped, but haste stacking (sans Versatility) is the meta. I’ve bought full crit gear, too, and it’s burstier, but questionably more effective due to me still going large streaks without critting consecutively. I do run crit on the non-Haste pieces.
The haste is more worth so you have shorter gcd and 0 cool down on bloodthirst. With my current gear in pvp after rampage bloodbath has 0 cd.
The above talents OP mentioned are not set in stone at all. Master and commander is great for when you need to give your team that extra survival, especially during high dampening. (39% hp for 13 secs if you take the improved talent as well in general tree)
Battle trance for the bloodthirst build is just not work at all imo. You switch targets too much in arena and bgs
My go to picks are slaughterhouse(when my team doesn’t have ms) rootbreak, and usually disarm or master and commander.
If I can afford it I’ll do enduring rage as well or the charge damage.
