Ok, so they done good with this expansion so far, although I kinna feel like I’m not interested in leveling alts at all because there’s a TON of stuff ta work on at endgame if you wanna unlock everything. This ain’t a bad thing though…probly just work on those guys once the future patches come in and they get those gearing catch-ups in place. Crafting seems exhausting though - 3x the amount of busy work for basically the same stuff we ended up with at the end of the last few expansions - but maybe there’s some subtleties there that I’m missin’.
That’s my only real bone ta pick - because of the exhaustive amount and expense of materials to craft this time out, my engineer/alchemists have hadta drop one of those professions for a gathering prof. Maybe this is by design but I ain’t totally thrilled with this design choice, BUT I’m sure I’ll get useta that down the road. I mean the only thing that’s worse than a game that changes is one that never does, right?
So, what’s ya beef?

So far, all the gameplay renown unlocks seem to be automatically enabled on alts - I’ve got rock climbing and photography WQs on my alts, at least.
Oh, and crafting gives loads of experience now for first crafts of an item - my warrior levelled up twice (well, 1.5 levels) by getting to 50 in blacksmithing. I’m mostly just selling materials now when the prices are high, though - it’s fun enough to fly around the zones that gathering is enjoyable by itself for me.

I don’t feel like I have much to complain about and that’s a good thing.
Dragonriding, but I’ve already complained enough about it to you guys.
The profession revamp is amazing but I feel like Blizzard clearly didn’t take into account that many of their players have a stable of alts to assist with crafting things. I don’t see anyone ordering anything most of the time. I don’t order anything most of the time. I’m not sure this is going to turn out how they wanted/thought it would.
Everyone’s too nice after the sheer volume of water that needs to go under the bridge. Like, my gosh, can the Alliance and Horde at LEAST glare at each other a little bit, sometimes? I miss the hate

I don’t care for The Waking Shore. I get so bored running through it, and it’s the reason Rizzy isn’t 70 (again) yet. Well, that and the fact that Marksmanship is still gutted and that they basically want all hunters to play Beastmastery.
That and there’s no way to skip the ‘stay a while and listen’ quest at the Life Pools. I did it once, let me skip everything that dwarf has to say. I don’t care anymore.

I headcanon that the expedition is made up of all the NERDS from the two factions lmao
I don’t have an army of alts and it’s a bummer trying to do the fulfill crafting orders
The system is also a little overwhelming but I been just focusing on mining, honestly a bit confused about engineering but I mostly just want to make my portal so I can hop around wherever easy peasy.
So far the expansion feels great, and I haven’t said that in a long time.
But am I the only one who feels the new profession system is a little unwieldy? I’ve been enjoying my gathering professions but leveling my crafting professions feels a little… I dunno.
I think it’s a huge improvement but it’s a little cumbersome overall imo.
It is very unwieldy, I greatly dislike this new profession system, but I understand that they needed to do SOMETHING to make them viable again. I just wish it was easier for me to understand.
I mean I’ll honestly say a good chunk of the crafting revamp is awful design. And I’ll even add that for profession revamps being a big feature of the expansion, quite a bit seems to fall into “chose the wrong profession” and dumb oversights.
If, by the way, crafting orders feel dumb to you, it was one of the last things to be tested in beta (and on a specific realm, which a few people were unhappy about) with a lot of feedback that idk if the dev team is going listen on for the .5 or even .1 patch. They certainly didn’t seem to have time before launch to do a fix like enabling public orders to choose their minimum quality on crafts, so
Well that sounds stupid.
Another thing is I don’t like any of the dungeons so far. They just seem sort of…there because they needed to be there, with tanky bosses and lots of mob adds. I especially don’t like the Centaur dungeon because of the emphasis on Dragonriding and the lack of coordination on where stuff is, which leads fo accidental wipes when people land in mob pathing thinking they’re safe.
Overall my favorite zone so far is probably Azure Span. And not because of Soup, it just feels like a good zone with properly spaced out questing with good rewards, and of course, the zone design. The final quest where you fight with Kalecgos? Absolutely love how they included lite cinematics during the gameplay, made it feel much more epic in scope.
Professions I’m mixed about.
Gathering professions, whew the knowledge upgrades are nice! I really like it!
Engineering? Well…I mean it’s engineering, it’s never been the money making profession which I have accepted for years now. However, a little annoyed that the main reason I get it is the portal generator, which is locked behind the knowledge grind instead of just learnable like it’s always been every expansion.
I’d be more irritated by this if I didn’t have dragon riding but every expansion I always try and get the portal for ez travel.
Anyway I’m leveling engineering enough so I can craft my own goggles and bracers because I’m weird and like my stuff to have crafted by ME on them lol
Vigor should recharge while gliding.

df is fine but I wish it had been the “reboot” expansion a lot of people asked for with an old world revamp and a focus on the playable races rather than a dragon centaur island adventure. After Shadowlands I just want to hang out with some orc and dwarf you know
Yes I am aware that is a broad sweeping quibble with the premise of the expansion rather than a bone to pick.

Right now, I think my biggest complaint is that reputations are kind of a slog… which isn’t a huge deal for one character because I’m not in a rush for anything right now, but feels like it actively discourages me from leveling my alts until they have the Renown 10 and 20 rank reputation bonuses, so that I won’t have to grind nearly as hard on them.
Also, the Tuskaar feasts are just terrible and stop being fun after two or three times. After that, it’s just a lot of idling around and waiting for the game to give you something to do while your framerate begs for the sweet release of death. I don’t know if I will ever max out their renown because I hate doing them, and their world quests tend to be the more slow, irritating ones.

Still haven’t touched the DF stuff because I’m still out here relearning all classes to see what plays different and what I enjoy. So I basically rerolled everything until I see what I vibe with.
Like a dummy.
Make a Thokk for every class. Multi-Thokk Drifting.

Goddammit, now I have to start over.
Again.
Become a Rogue. I will teach you our ways.
You can name yourself Thoque.
I hate how nearly all the gathering nodes are in high places. I see what people mean when they say they’re forced to use Dragonriding. It makes gathering unnecessarily annoying, especially when they put elite mobs right on top of them.

i see what they were going for with professions this expansion but i think they goofed pretty bad. I hope they try to refine and improve the system instead of just scrapping it but that’s a lot to ask out of blizzard
i know resources aren’t infinite but i really think it was a massive L to do the time skip nonsense and not update the old world whatsoever. even just a few zones at a time would be fine but i think we’re stuck with cata until the end of time
evoker having two specs is transcendentally stupid and my opinion on this hasn’t really softened since dragonflight launched. actually baffling and not promising for any new classes going forward. dracthyr also should’ve just launched with multiple classes available to them instead of funneling every dracthyr into evoker
but at the end of the day DF is definitely a step in the right direction and I hope this trajectory continues
