I’m wanting to try a cloth dps class and also do herb and inscription. I need opinions on what to pick. I do a lot of lfg and lfr groups and I don’t do mythic plus stuff. Once in a while I’ll do bg PvP.
a mage would be a good pick due to slow effect you can do to mobs and enemies
Warlocks, they also make delicious fel cookies.
Warlock is pretty much default easy mode for clothies; you get all the fun of blasting people with magic, you can rez yourself if things are looking dicey and you get a chonky pet to hold aggro for you.
If you’re starting from square 1, Warlock is much easier to learn than mage. Well not entirely actually - frost should be good for beginners but fire and arcane are not beginner friendly at all.
I’m a big fan of the mage, but warlocks aren’t bad. Priests are not my thing, but shadow is fairly strong.
I feel a mage would be best suited based off what you said. One they can easily teleport/portal every where, they are pretty durable, and have a large kit for control.
Warlocks are great too, but their utility is more geared for dungeons/raiding, have less control, and are slow.
I would vote warlock bc I feel like the 3 specs play pretty differently from eachother. I feel like you get more play style diversity in warlock than you do mage.
And shadow is just one spec so that would get boring to me.
…aren’t we all cloth classes when you think about it?
Priest has supreme utility, warlock is underutilized in most lesser forms of content most people wont use a gateway unless its meant to push them forward on the dungeon route.
Mage is cool and has the most tricks in pvp but I think knowing leap of faith is more important than rushing to throw down ice walls and novas against the wrong groups about to clash. As a cloth you want to manage when altercations occur, leap of faith is pretty cut and dry about who its impacting.
Fire and Arcane are fine to learn (just takes a bit of Target Dummy practice for raiding) but both of them are cooldown-dependent which is bad for leveling.
I just leveled a Frost Mage and it was really really easy.
I think as a farming toon, warlock would be best. your pets can aggro mobs near your node while you gather. dot them up, gather, loot, leave.
Well, do you occasionally want to heal? If so, priest is your only option.
Otherwise, you’ve got mage and warlock with pros and cons for both. You want minions and a brez or do you want lust/hero with the ability to teleport and farm raids/dungeons easier?
Then go mage.
You’ll have a much easier time solo’ing stuff as a lock, but mage is more fun to play atm. Shadow is ok, but the devs can’t ever seem to figure out what they want to do with it.
If you’ve never clothed DPS before, you’ll enjoy yourself more inside content as a warlock or shadow priest. Outside content quality of life as a mage is nice but you’ll find yourself having to try harder at the game until you get the hang of it.
I’m thinking I’m going to go mage now I just gotta pick race
Void elves look pretty decent.
then pick whatever it doesn’t matter if you’re just running heroic dungeons and lfr
