Pick 2 For A Buddy Cop Story

Jumping off an idea brought up from my other thread where Azighan suggested pairing up Garrosh and Kael’Thas, what two characters would you most like to see stuck together for an adventure?

In my opinion the best recent canonical pairing has been Rider and Shaw. A taciturn, strictly business agent and a devil may care, ‘more on the supply side of crime’ maverick pairing is a pretty well worn trope, but it’s well worn for a very good reason. It’s always entertaining.

The worst one had to be Sira and Nathanos. Two grim growly grumps, growling grimly at eachother. Seriously if you’ve never read Shadow’s Rising and would like to replicate those chapters on the cheap just draw mean frowny faces on two planks of wood and you’ve captured their whirlwind chemistry perfectly.

One I would like to see is Liadrin and Bwomsamdi. We don’t see much interfaith interaction within the Horde and this would be a good chance for that. Liadrin has a complicated history with trollkind to put it diplomatically and she could play the straight man to Bwom’s huckster of soils routine. We know from the Other Side that Bwom will bargain with non-trolls, and we saw in SR how good he is at getting under people’s skin. I think that’s fertile ground for some fun character play.

Another would be Malfurion and Mekkatorque. Now I’m not an expert with Alliance lore so forgive me if these two have already interacted at length. If not though I’d love to see it. Their power sets and realm of expertise could not be more offset. Does Gelbin view his magic as primitive? Would Malfurion view his mechanical battle cats as perverse simulacra? I’d like to find out.

Finally I would like to see more interaction between Voss and Rexar. We get a taste of this in the Horde War Campaign and I was kind of surprised how unnerved Rexar was by Voss’s necro nightblade shtick. But despite their clashing personalities they both know solitude and hunting very intimately. Could be room for some interesting stories between them.

Genn and Nathanos. Impractical as it is, I want to see it.

Garrosh and Varian.

Those two scowling at each other from across the Trial of the Crusader was one of the more entertaining parts of Wrath and I think it would be hilarious if they ended up having to work together in the afterlife.

Might get some irritated groans, perhaps warranted, but… Llane Wrynn and Dranosh Saurfang teaming up to find Varian and Varok would be neato if you ask me.

I feel like the Eternal Palace was such a missed opportunity for that. Jania and Lor’Themar putting aside their differences doesn’t say much to me. They’ve done it before and at least in BFA they were both on Team Sensible so of course they buddy up to take down the sexy evil sea food platter.

Nathanos and Greymane though? Ish. Then you KNOW this N’Zoth business is real if those two can table the blood feud for a minute.

After “We Ride Forth,” I’d love to see more one-on-one interaction between the Four Horsemen, but I suppose it’s cheating to pick them since they’re already set up for it with Nazgrim & Trollbane and Darion & Whitemane making good duos.

I think it would be interesting to see Thalyssra and Talanji work together. They have such vastly different experiences and backgrounds, but both have been part of a society that was closed off from outsiders (obviously Thalyssra much more so) and are interested in expanding their knowledge and influence of the world. Rommath and Valtrois could be fun. Kayn Sunfury and Darion Mograine might work, because they’ve both got a dark and brooding edgelord thing going on, and I think they’d either get along fabulously or hate each other.

I would love to see Tehd Shoemaker and Marius Felbane adventuring in the Shadowlands. Just to see what sort of trouble those two can get themselves into this time around :smiley_cat: :heart_eyes_cat:

REX AND WRATH!

It’s the Wolverine/Mr. Sinister teamup I crave!

Rommath and Oculeth.

I don’t know why, but I think it would be hilarious.

Probably because Rommath is your typical mage powerhouse, but Oculeth would just dump all the fish in a 10 mile radius on someone’s head via a portal in the sky.

Well, I’m half expecting to see a Sylvanas/Tyrande team up at some point in SL. Lets see how that goes.

How dare you insult Wolverine and Mr. Sinister so.

My Wolverine/Sinister team would be Garona and Moira. They will show all the folk what for.

The next time some Human Wrynn wants to make a council out of a legit Dwarven Heir, a proven Wrynn killer in Garona would suffice.

Garrosh and Vol’jin in the Shadowlands. A Ardenweald/Revendreth duo that must use their skills against the Jailer’s forces. Since they’re dead and working together, their attitudes would have to be appropriately different and could give an interesting dynamic due to their shared history.

Rokhan and Lilian Voss: He’s a playful but diligent soldier and she’s a caring if maniacal killer. I feel they’d play off each other well while both being sneaky fighters who represent the two darkest Horde races. Lots of ground for some more morbid humor. Voodoo and shadow magic also seems like it’d be a fun combo to play with.

Rexxar and Broll Bearmantle: Two of the most manly men in all of Azeroth ruggedly roughing it across a wild and untamed wilderness. One has a bear. One has bear arms. It is a match made in heaven. They even have a common interest in protecting the WILDS and would likely respect one another’s ferocity and survival skills.

Mylune and Zen’kiki: Come on. You know you want it too. She’s a big ball of sunshine and love and he’s a hopeless screwup with a heart of gold. Sit-com gold mine right there. Every time he messed up she dotes on him and gives him encouragement to do better next time, all while the pair save all the wee little animals of the forest.

Portals are one of those abilities that doesn’t sound too tough on paper, next to being able to conjure and bend fire at least. But dude could just warp you to the bottom of the ghost sea, or the top of the Stormpeaks.

Always bums me out how Arcane mages have never been in a good spot for PVP while I’ve played. There’s no magic IRL and we can make fireballs a lot larger than any mage. But warping time and space? That’s unlimited power under the right circumstance.

I love the idea of an Arcane Mage, but it has usually fallen behind Fire and Ice in both PvP and PvE. I made my Mage with Arcane in mind, but he always ends up as Frost for the easy CC, slows, and general chill.
