My guild is pretty loosey-goosey when it comes to PI. We’re good about giving PI to our UH DK every 3 min at least, but beyond that its a bit of a circus. Sometimes the priests will just PI themselves, other times they’ll just give it to random people. I think one of our priests uses an addon to tell her who to give PI to, but not sure.
If it were up to me it would be decided ahead of time who gets PI based on how much dps it could give to the raid, and it would be known when these dps will be given it so they can line up CDs with it. I’ve seen a few 1-2% wipes that I feel would’ve been avoided if PI was put on the right dps.
How do your raids handle PI? Are PI assignments something that is determined and assigned ahead of time by your guild, or are your priests allowed to do w/e they want with it?
With the one talent, no one should PI themselves, they should run a talent so they PI someone else and themselves.
On my spriest we usually PI our arcane mage since it helps him get his rotation built up to speed faster and then we just don’t change. Otherwise it goes on our evoker since he pulls 90 parses and is better than the rest of us. lol
I’m trying to convince my guild to do this. PI meta aside, PI will naturally benefit your raid more by giving it to the pumpers. It shouldn’t be left to the whims of the priests, it should be up to the officers IMO and decided ahead of time.
I don’t raid but in keys its usually given to whatever class benefits from it the most. Its the healers discretion I guess, whatever makes the key time.
In raids though, just PI the tank. Its the best solution if everyone’s arguing!
We did a /roll for it in alt farm stuff. I totally did not cheat and got a 100 on my totally legit /roll 99-100
The dishonorable priest alt gave it to the DPSers though. I find this to be unfair as I am usually lower than the other tank and PI might have helped and I so totes won the roll fair and square. The instructions were very clear…roll if you want PI. I wanted PI so I optimized my chances
Unless you are in some UBER wanna be progression guild this is just a no…
We are all “mostly” adults here, we can figure this out on our own and the priest is more than capable of picking who they should put it on and when. Back when I used to raid I had a hunter player that I used it on and the other had a mage that she used it on and we had the system worked out. No need for it to be up to the “officers” ahead of time. Nobody has time for all that. (again unless you think you are in some super mega progression guild) or something like that.
I guess rolling for PI is a way to do it. I don’t think it would be the most efficient option (what if a 40k ST monk wins it?), but at least it would make it very clear who does and does not get it in a fair way. If you’re doing normal/heroic farming, where it doesn’t really matter who gets it, sure.
Mythic prog? Ehhhhh…sketchy. I know I’d be stirring up drama if we 1% wiped because a tank damage DPS got PI.
I didn’t say it was the best way to do it. Just how the group I run with did it. The main comp has no priests anyway. My post was very much meant to be satire. I never actually expected to get PI and if it was prog or something serious-ish, it would be done properly.
But I’m also not going to click off the PI buff either if I was given it…
PI is part of the priest’s damage rotation. I trust our raiders to manage their rotation, because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be raiding with them. There are “optimal” targets for PI, yes, but that falls under the category of trusting the priest player to know their business.
