Physical War Within Collector's Edition?

Is there even going to be one? After the post regarding the Dragonflight one being back in stock in the shop I was hoping we’d hear something regarding War Within. Been holding off on buying the expansion until I know for sure.

It would really be a shame if they didn’t do one this time around.

Both SL and DF were late to announce their CEs. It would be hard to imagine them NOT doing one-- it’s free money.

And while the Blizzard CEs are still a very high quality product compared to many other CEs I’ve seen, they’re still easy money. ESPECIALLY since they’re not shipping them to physical locations anymore. They take pre-orders and then fulfill. They don’t have to worry about physically stocking a product that might not sell.

It’s win-win.

They’ll do it. Just give them time.

I would also like an answer on this topic. Given DF hard copies are still available, I’m worried they may just stop the CE options. But the OCD in me needs it lol

Do you buy the CE to open it or keep it sealed?

There’s no point to keep it sealed. For an important distinction:

The WoW CEs are “COLLECTOR’S” editions, but they are not LIMITED editions.

ONLY Vanilla was that.

Every other CEs after Vanilla was done by pre-order. Meaning: everyone that wanted one, got one. So there is no “scarcity” that comes from having it, since everyone that wants one can have one.

Coupled with the fact that the WoW IP isn’t that valuable. The Lich King CE might have been the last one to really command any value, but again-- because it wasn’t a LIMITED edition, it’s not worth anything.

Only Vanilla is. Because Blizzard had no idea that had lightning in a bottle, they didn’t make that many. That’s not true for every other version.

Besides, the entire reason to buy the CE is for the artbook. Gotta open it to have that.

I am almost $1000 way to buy a vanilla wow collectors edition on eBay actually am excited, then maybe I’ll start my collection after that

I’ve bought every physical CE since TBC. Not sure how I’d feel if they decide to stop doing them.

Good question. I think we will get it in two or three months, if not so it will be the first expansion without a physical collection edition.

They’re likely still doing it, but I don’t think they announce them until there’s a release date for the expansion? I could be misremembering, but it’s usually only a few months before release.

Recently finished my collection of the others. I was missing TBC, WoD, Legion and Dragonflight. Got some sealed on eBay. Legion is typically incredibly expensive, over $600. Snagged one for $150.

Anyone have any neat setups of their CEs, books, and other WoW memorabilia?

I hope so we get to see the Collector’s Edition.

physical ce when?

I still remember walking into Fry’s Electronics in Sunnyvale on launch day 2004. A giant stack of collector’s editions by the front door. Nobody seemed to know or care what this game was. I almost just bought the regular version but got the CE on a whim. Little did I know that that would lead to me having a panda pet follow me around for the next 19 years. It’s been quite the trip.

Can you imagine if you could go back, buy mass quantities of the collectors edition and keep them for years and years?

On eBay they go for like $5000+, sometimes $10,000.

Could have had a massive fortune in a 20 year return

I have all of them including vanilla. Ill be incredibly sad if they stop doing them.

Id share a pic of them if it would let me post links.

Doesnt look like we are getting a collectors edition huh

No Physical CE means 100% no reason to buy until you intend to play. They would kill pre-purchase sales, not just now, but for all future expansions. They’ll get a few now hoping for the physical upgrade/refund dance, but the next will plummet on presales. Remember when Blizz was a good company that cared for the fans? Ah, the good ol’ days of TBC and Vanilla.
