Physical comp in Mythic Plus

I bring word from the people of mythic plus.

It is time for a physical comp meta. We have seen mage, shadow priest, boomy, the occasional “other” caster (warlock, ele, etc).

The last time physical comp was meta was when I started playing 6 years ago in S4 of BfA.

Physical comp deserves the right to be meta for at least one season. Mages, boomies and whatnot can keep maging and booming, but I would like for you to seriously consider overtuning physical comp specs.

I want to see a Havoc DH, Arms/Fury Warrior (or prot war), a Brew/WW or MW monk, a hunter, feral druid and some kind of rogue being played at the absolute top keys. If that means you have to overtune them, then do it. They deserve it. They haven’t seen the pinnace of keys in 6 f***ing years, and because of that are unfairly viewed as weaker. I know your balance actually does a good job of balancing a lot of DPS (with some outliers), but this is something where you should probably balance them beyond what your analyst tell you, because you are fighting against player perception here, which isn’t always rooted in reality (and in my experience, is rarely rooted in reality, saying this as rank 1 sunfury arcane mage in keys, a hero tree that is supposedly “dead” in keys)

Another topic is that of utility. I think phys comp severely lacks utility, and I can address some things here:

  1. Hunter: needs an actually raid buff, not the trash it has
  2. Warrior: needs a lust, reduce cooldown of Champion’s spear to 45 seconds and increase its duration to 8 seconds, making it act like a better version of Ursol’s vortex
  3. Fury War: give them funnel; no capped class should be stuck with no funnel
  4. Arms war: increase their single target damage in mythic plus spec
  5. Outlaw rogue: uncap them and find a way to make their damage during bloodlust not dogwater
  6. WW Monk: either uncap them, give them funnel, or give them so much single target that they split bosses in half
  7. MW Monk: make them scale with attack power so they do more healing with warrior buff, rather than mage buff
  8. Feral druid: give them that god damn silence beam that chickens have
  9. Havoc: overshadowed by vdh, currently fine imo

No melee, only magic

Not physical? Or does chaos damage count as physical also?

Monk, warrior, feral, rogue or hunter, resto sham.

Well mystic touch was going to be 8%.

It was rolled back because of the community response.

Guess we know who they favour.

No melee. Hunters and warlocks have to kite mobs around.

How about a magic melee comp

Hunter - yes it needs a better raid buff, but more importantly a better way to apply it. Aint no one marking trash mobs.

Warrior - absolutely no. giving heroism to more classes is stupid for homogenizing the game and fails to address the real issues, and all this does is make warriors the “worst class in the game with heroism”.

What we need is a third major utility pillar for the classes that have neither combat res nor hero, AND warrior needs to be overhauled to not be a selfish class because selfish classes are never going to have a place in a team sport like M+.

Warrior has no purge, no soothe, no dispel, no immunity, and their mob control is among the worst in the game because of how it DRs. These things are dungeon specific but when they are in play you 100% will require someone who can do this in your comp.

Right off the bat, a soothe as a “spellsteal” style of “your rage is mine now” would be incredibly thematic. Something to change shockwave to a knockup. A Blessing of Sacrifice type cooldown where you effectively bodyguard someone.

If you gave warrior heroism tomorrow and nothing else they are still 100% staying on autodecline outside of Prot, just like the dracthyr.

Outlaw - does not need to be uncapped. Give all rogues back Acrobatic strikes and make Adrenaline Rush have a % damage amp. Reduce the variance of buffs from 5 to 3. The main problem with Outlaw is a flat profile and bad RNG. As a non hero, non combat res class, put them on the new third utility pillar.

Monk/DH - is fine, other than needing a major utility pillar.

Feral - yup. Solar beam. But also its long past time to ignore all the people in retirement homes demanding this spec have snapshotting, bleed centric damage and bad energy regen. Never mind that Bloodtalons has always been bad design that forces you to press the wrong abilities in the wrong situations for a damage boost to finishers. Bring back floods of Apex chomps, it was fantastic prio damage, and higher energy/APM. More important than all of that, either make combat res instant like DK, or let Feral cast it in Bear form so they don’t get killed doing it. Preferably both.

It is saddening that Feral as the original battle res class is the worst at doing it, when Soulstone can be pre-placed (and spec’d to be fast cast with full health/mana recovery), Paladin can do it safely from a bubble, DK can do it instantly (and for full health if sanlayn), Guardian can do it instantly, Boomie and Resto are already safe at range when it needs to go out.
