Authenticator finally ran out of battery after 7 years, so I followed the necessary steps to remove it from my account. I then added the mobile app for authentication and have it working as intended for when I log into the website and other games.
However, World of Warcraft specifically continues to ask me for an authenticator code. I’ve deleted the WTF Config.wtf to reset settings, but that doesn’t appear to have solved the issue. I’d like to avoid deleting the entire WTF folder if at all possible.
My thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.
Thank you for the update! Lets try cleaning out the apps cache and reinstalling it to see if that helps.
· Press the Windows Key+R on keyboard
(Run Command in the Start Menu for Vista)
· Type %ProgramData%
· Hit enter
· Delete Blizzard Entertainment and Battle.net Folders
· Empty Recycle Bin
· Uninstall and reinstall the app, please reinstall onto the C drive
Alright. Reinstalled the Battle .net program data and when I attempted to log in, it gave me the request for authentication through the mobile app and it bypassed the Email / Password entirely and skipped straight to the character select screen.
However, when I back out to the login screen and enter in my Email & Password, it still prompts me to enter in an authenticator code.
This appears to have been a ‘soft fix’ that bypasses the issue, but the issue still persists.
I’ve cleared up some cached info on our end. Try again on your end. If things continue try removing and reattaching the authenticator it might be bugged.
If that doesn’t work you might need to reinstall WoW. Though if you can sign in via the app I would continue doing that and reinstall when you have the time to set everything back up.
I’m sure one of those options will fix it, as its clear this is something in my local files - but so long as this soft fix works, I’ll just go that route.
