Phone Notifications Question

So, I currently have Verizon as a service provider, but I was looking at one of their subsidiaries, Visible. Does the Blizzard Phone Notifications work with Visible? I don’t want to change service providers if not. Can anyone verify Phone Notifications use with Visible?

Edit: I was corrected in a response. I originally thought it was the authenticator, but it is in fact Phone Notifications. Edited post to reflect this.

The authenticator is an app, as long as your phone has internet access and can run the app, it works, providers have nothing to do with it.

Unless Blizzard changed their rules in the past week, they still require contract service to use the authenticator. Pre-paid service are a hit and miss according to some people.

Battle.net Phone Notifications are designed for text-enabled mobile phones. Messaging apps like iMessage (iOS) or WhatsApp (iOS, Android) are not supported. Phone notifications cannot be used with Voice over IP (VoIP), and VoIP numbers that are transferred to a local provider are not eligible for the service.

All that being said, every smartphone uses an app to send and receive text messages. Verizon phones used to use their own app, but now solely rely on the phone system to provide one. In my case with Android, Google Messages.

This is why I’m questioning if Visible would work or not.

Can just use Wifi and not worry about it at all.

You’re referring to two different services.

The authenticator doesn’t rely on the payment type of your cell plan. The SMS protect (now called Phone Notifications) does but the authenticator works with any type of internet connection.

Ya you should be at home when authenticating something, not on the bus or in the park, so just make sure wifi is turned on.

Thank you for the clarification. I’ll edit my original post to reflect this information.

That being said, does Visible work with Phone Notifications?
