Phil Spencer Wants Gamers To Treat Developers With More Dignity and Respect

I respect the art team! I respect the mathematicians even though they probably don’t know how their lovely math is being poorly implemented. For example, I’ve noticed that the Vy agent will sometimes get a beam that hits the current location of three or four players, suggesting some sort of least squares approximation of a line. Beautiful math, very annoying mechanic. Same thing with level and ilvl scaling. They heard the plan “make it so lower level players have an easier time but better geared players gain an advantage” and did it. Notice that mob health as a function of ilvl is closer to parabolic than linear.

GC went from getting death threats to sainthood in a couple of years. forums are wild.

The halo fans deserve every right to destroy 343 with their predatory MTX system. There are hundred of false advertising and others of them trying to defend their overpriced garbage pixels. Let the Halo fans burn them to the ground and that weirdo phil.

That is correct and when you show contempt to the people who have supported you for years because they said no to you to take away flying, this is the result of that. And yes that is the point in time this crap started. They want that respect back start building bridges again instead of burning the few they have left.

To be fair, most of us live in the real world where if we do really poorly at our jobs, we get fired or reprimanded, perhaps it’s hard to see a team working diligently to run the game into the ground. I’ve never been one to call for Ion to be fired but things seem to get worse and worse under his watch, i feel he was better suited to just working on raid encounters.

I will treat them with more respect when they stop thinking I’m trailer park trash.

But they are targeting 343 who is a subsidiary of Microsoft attack Microsoft not the developers they had no say in whether they wanted micro transactions or not. In terms of story yes you should rip them for that god awful Cortana plot

halfway through next expansion people will be reminiscing about the good old actiblizz days. it’s the cycle of the forums.

Agreed, treat them like people who work hard to give us a thing. This does not mean we can’t ask questions as to why they did or didn’t do something, but remember that there is a person on the receiving end of the question.

I mean it is but I think he’s saying not to threaten these developers to death. Honestly if I had to choose between a minimum wage job and a game developer job I choose the first. They are tough but he has a point some people go as far as threaten to kill you because they didn’t like a narrative choice

i reported a lot of them in wrath when people said insanely aggressively violent stuff to ghost crawler, and i have no shame in that. he’s still a human like the rest of us. that stuff isn’t cool.

You are who the company you keep. If you, as a game developer, know you are creating predatory schemes and choose revenue > integrity, YOU are part of the problem of the industry and will NEVER get sympathy from me. These adults know their target majority audience is adolescence and build the systems in place to to suck the life and wealth from everything they touch. They know the psychological effect from teens and children’s peers that know they will be made fun of or feel left out if they don’t have the “cool new skin.” Piss on these people and their studios. /spit

And to that I agree however I’m not going to respect the development team just because they want respect. They need to show they actually respect the game to that they don’t.

They have people to feed dude not everyone can just up and leave a company. Some of these developers have family’s?

So did the brown shirts. Didn’t make them right.

Honestly In a perfect world we would have zero micro transactions but we don’t and I applaud Microsoft for keeping it a minimum.

As someone who had to endure many numerous hours of personal tutoring in order to pull out an A in my college math classes, and then quickly forget most everything I learned once a little time had passed, I can’t even begin to imagine how smart the number magicians at Blizz must actually be.

“Frankly, it’s a WoW token issue”. Shareholders should treat the developers with respect first; it must be easy to sneak around in the shadows causing corruption, havoc, and microtransaction schemes to milk the player bases and saying their are only 2 parties involved (Dev and Players); all the while letting Devs take the hit for it.
