When you have a Phase Diving World Quest, the 1st line of the quest reads: 0/1 Enter Phase Diving (Optional). The 2nd line of the quest tells you what you need to accomplish to complete said quest. Hoverer, if I DON’T enter phase diving mode, I cannot see nor complete the quest. How then does that make entering phase diving optional??? Someone please explain this to me!

As I understand it, it’s because you could already be in Phase Diving before you arrive at WQ, therefore you don’t have to enter Phase Diving during the WQ.

Its to prevent some bug, if I remember correctly.
Yeah, I found that kind of dumb. I guess if you’re already phased it wouldn’t be a required part of the quest…but I don’t just run around phased. Not being able to mount or anything reminds me too much of The Maw and I’ll be danged if I’m going to run around like that for fun.

Phase Diving Required would be a better choice of wording then IMO.
Phase diving is required for the quest. That’s why the title has phase diving in it.
Entering phase diving is not.
Again, if something is REQUIRED, don’t say it’s OPTIONAL. Those words have entirely different meanings!
Objective says: Enter Phase Diving (optional). Or something to that matter, but it clearly says enter.
Being in Phase Diving is required. Entering during that specific WQ is not.

Entering Phase Diving is not required. It’s optional. Because there aren’t entrance points to Phase Diving at most of the WQ points. Being in Phase Diving is a necessity.
That is not the same as entering Phase Diving.
This is like some back end programmer arguing with the average user.
Yeah, technically A is correct - You aren’t required to enter phase diving for the quest because you could already be in phase diving, so it’s an optional step.
But the average person is gonna read that as “phase diving is optional”, even if it becomes pretty clear pretty fast when they get there that it is not optional.
Blizzard is not wrong. It’s the same as the logic where they say “(optional) take the portal to Stormwind”. But there are better ways to word it to be more clear.
