Very disappointing to start a phase with your build completely neutered. I played stacking and very much enjoyed the rotation. Log in excited to start this phase only to find out my damage has been cut in half.
Now my choices are pretty much spam exo or take a hike.
If the class/spec needed tuning, by all means tune it - but it feels like they have completely obliterated the viability of it altogether. Feels like crap to play in its current state, at least. Can’t really enjoy new content with my main now.
You know whats busted, that Starfall does 500-600 damage per tick and then Starsurge and Starfall critting for 2500+.
You know whats busted, Tank shamans being able to 3-4 hit people while still maintaining the highest health pool out of all classes, carrying a shield, and having lightning shield procs hit for 500-600 when they’re struck in combat.
funny thing is paladins would not stop asking for twisting in p1/2 and they ended up getting in p3, and now paladins are reaping what they sowed because they are forcibly balanced around twisting.
Its funny that almost every single Paladin nerf has been entirely PvP oriented but there have been little to no nerfs in the same regard to Boomkins OR Shamans. (almost all nerfs for them were PvE centric and didn’t effect their broken PvP setups at all)
Same thing with Hunters, almost every single nerf they recieved was entirely in regards to their PvP damage vs PvE, YET the classes that the SoD devs actually play are left untouched.
Damn right I’m reaping what was sowed. Twisting is a unique rotation and should be kept in due to that. I wouldn’t be playing still if we were stuck with Exo spam or Wrath-like. Stacking is better than those but still falls under the maintenance buffing rotation style.
I’m glad you enjoy twisting, maybe it’s a vocal minority but all I see are people wanting buffs to other versions of paladin that would indirectly buff twisting, unfortunately for them as long as twisting exists the class will be balanced around it.
I’ll always maintain that unique rotations should be prioritized over cookie cutter playstyles whether the majority understands or not.
Thankfully twisting’s optic challenge has been overcome for the most part, though once in a while someone thinking they’re clever will bark something about muh swing timer or whatever.
Yeah it’s almost as if alliance outnumber horde and there’s a number of paladins who abused seal stacking and shoulder enchants to make other peoples experience in the open world not enjoyable due to extremely quick PvP kill times
I think the bigger issue is that this change hit a lot more than just ret paladins. As prot the 2 piece for T2 was borderline required for regular threat gen, and there was never a reason to take other pants. Now patch hits with no new reals gear added and I am scrambling to get pugs for content so I can try and get a new pair of pants. That feels terrible to suddenly have gear you were wearing for 2+ phases be super worthless because of an over reaction nerf.
You must be smoking some incredible drugs because shaman, hunters, and boomkins DOMINATE the kill times in open world PVP because they can nuke you from 40 yards before you can even react or they are so tanky they can never die.
Ret paladins are really good at killing someone in a stun trying to ride past the raid group and get into Naxx, but it’s absolutely not the Ret paladins sitting outside Light’s Hope killing everything that moves.
Crusader strike is alliance dominated. Pretty sure it’s the same in EU.
Druid is the most popular class, but honestly a good amount of Druid players are chill. I rarely get blown up by a boomie nowadays. Hunters occasionally like to squabble but they can get bullied real quick if you throw on PvP gear and dead zone them. They caught kill shot nerfs. Tank shamans caught nerfs and have always been weak to range dps. It’s a tank, you struggle to kill them aa melee and they die to magic damage. Same thing happens if you play retail PvP. It’s a tank. And shamans are not as frequently played as paladins.
Paladins in P7 were acting like they owned Azeroth. Every other keyboard turning human male ret paladin with enough reals to get the t1 6piece bonus t2 2 piece bonus and the soul of the Templar shoulder enchant was out for blood. If they were half as aggressive then maybe it wouldn’t have upset the community so much. They deserved the nerfs.
As for what I’m smoking on, I prefer an occasional adult beverage nightcap personally. Maybe a cigar if we’re celebrating. But a little peacebloom never hurt anyone
Just fought a shaman tank who’s average hit was about 500 damage and Lava burst did about 2500 on a crit and that was fighting him at a 20 yard range as shockadin.
He told me he has about 9k health after flask
I understand having one or the other. But Shaman tanks literally have both Damage and Immensive Survivabilty.
Same goes for Boomkins running around with 8k health unbuffed and no flask and able to combo both spellpower and tank thorns items to fight both at range and melee.
I would like to see a screenshot of lightning shield doing 500 in pvp. Mine does that in PVE, minus 60% in pvp. Def not 3 shotting anyone. Can outlast some people/classes but they aren’t burst monsters like mage hunter ret or boomkin.
