Those who played classic back in 19-20 know all about the infamous Phase 2 on PvP servers, yet if I’m reading the 2025 roadmap correctly PvP ranking releases with Warsong Gulch and more importantly Alterac Valley.
With this in mind, is there going to be the slaughterfest that happened where if you solo lvled you were camped by 40man premades in contested zones or will it be no major change from the standard here in Anniversary?
I’m banking on a bit of shenanigans but nothing like we saw back in original Classic, especially with the new ranking system that is solely based on how much honor YOU get vs competing against everyone for limited slots on ranks.
Either way, I’m safe as I’m enjoying the luxury of leveling PvE.

It’s going to be worse than 2019 was. People made efficient ways to gank level 48s.
It’ll be bad, but it is one megaserver this time. So, no max exoduses this time. Probably just going to have some layer wars. Chronoboons would get a lot of mileage. *Edit nevermind if BGs are coming out with the phase.
Everyone who wants to rank will just be drek or kek or van or ban for 8 weeks, no reason to farm open world kills

No one is going to gank open world when the BGs will be out.
The reason P2 was so bad on original launch was because BGs were not out.
So no, we will not see a repeat of P2 problems.

they will be releasing BGs at the same time, so it won’t really be an issue. at least no more of an issue than it is now. nobody does world pvp for honor if BGs are available
BGs will be out, it will be a non issue. The issue in 2019 is that BGs weren’t out when honor released and it was the old honor system, so you were competing against your own faction. With the new honor system you can stop at certain points. Also BG honor >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> wpvp honor
High level zones near Capital cities will be a warzone everywhere else will be safe for the most part.
The HPH(Honor Per Hour) types will be ganking in Searing Gorge, Burning Steppes, WPL, EPL, and Maybe Felwood or Silithus while they’re BG queues are going.
Depends on how fast the queues are.
People will still be ganking but it won’t be a massive PVP thing.
Instead of people complaining that you’re PVPing without the honor system they’ll complain that you’re PVPing outside of the BGs.
If you played on a PVP server in 2019, especially on the smaller faction side, you’ll remember that the moment BGs came out, WPVP effectively was over. The contrast was so stark it was as if you were on a different server, or even playing a different game. This is not even coming close to overstating it.
If they do release honor with BGs concurrently, then there might be some world pvp, especially those who are ranking that have long BG queue times, but even then I wouldn’t anticipate it being much different from how it is now.
If honor gains start prior to BGs being released however, then WPVP will be big for a while. And those who enjoy WPVP will enjoy that.
blizzard will never release honor prior to BGs ever again the phase 2 debacle of classic was a nightmare for them.
I do hope they release honor before bgs, at least for 2 weeks. P2 2019 was one of the most legendary moments of wow classic.
I’d be surprised if they do that again. PvE noodles as usual will hate PvP happening on a PvP realm.
Just 2 weeks though, dude. You have all these bullcrap PvE events like opening of scrab roach gates and zombie crawl, etc… why can’t we get a 2 weeks of global orc vs human event ?!
