Even with the Toxic Avenger buff Gut Ripper is still clearly the better choice, especially for PvP – which clearly encourages Gold Buying.
On P Servers that actively banned Gold Buyers, I was able to purchase Gut Ripper for 12G 99S.
I can guarantee in Phase 2 Gut Ripper will be 500G+ due to Gold Buyers and RMT.
When will Blizzard police their own TOS which calls for banning Gold Buyers?
NEWS FLASH: THEY WON’T.
Blizzard has no intention of policing their own Terms of Service.
They actually encourage gold buying and if it doesn’t serve them they introduce Tokens.

I dont have them pulled up to compare, but there are TWO epic daggers from STV.
They are same damage and same speed but the BoP Dagger has a weird chance on hit of damage over time while Gut Ripper has a chance on hit of doing burst damage…
Clearly Gut Ripper is superior in PvP because of no DOT which means Blind is unaffected by it.
It’s the BIS weapon for dagger rogues and it’s BOE.
This promotes REAL MONEY TRADING & GOLD BUYING.
Blizz banned GDKP but refuses to enforce it’s day 1 ban of BUYING GOLD.

Gut Ripper will be in AH for 500-1000G. Guaranteed.
From what I’ve been reading, it seems like they’re actively trying to put in alternatives to the BoEs to combat this a bit.
The issue is that the… low information players won’t know about that. They’ll automatically go to the AH for their preBIS for Gnomer and ignore all the new stuff. Because… reasons.1

Who cares? there have been BiS Boe items since vanilla all the way through every single patch and expansion in nearly all of wow history. Just because something is rare and expensive doesn’t mean people HAVE to buy gold to afford it.
Honestly i like the idea that farming gold means i can get a sweet piece of gear…it gives me something relaxing to do when im not raiding and doing PvP that still means im working on character progress.
I realize being profesionally outraged about something every couple minutes is high on some people priority list these days but damn man…some of yall need to chill.
Nobody is paying those credit card swiper prices for those BoEs. While they are BiS, the ones you get from say BFD are close enough that its not worth the 400g+ or whatever we’ve seen with certain P1 blues.
literally everything in the game you can buy with gold promotes RMT, whats your point?
if a RMTer wants to waste $100 or more just to get a 0.3% extra dps gain how does that hurt the average player, its not like its GDKP where at one point it could fester and turn the entire raiding community into GDKP’s, you still have the option to just get the BOP which is more than enough for clearing the content
also those boe’s dont drop like candy like the forums like to make out, they have like 0.03% drop rate from random enemies, they dont drop like candy like BOP’s from dungeons and raids so the RMT market for those items is quite small
