I play Beast Mastery hunter in PVP and I’ve noticed that pets seem to move really slowly. I’m frequently experiencing my pets fall behind, especially when I may have moved far away to switch onto a new target and then I have to wait 10-15 seconds for them to catch up so that I can use my abilities. Is this normal? I’m using a Direhorn pet for their Gore ability. I don’t recall having this much trouble with it in the past but perhaps I was using a different type of pet but it the delay is being able to use abilities can be extremely frustrating and cost me games at times.
You need to get into the habit of recalling your pets (putting them in passive so they run back to you when you are switching targets.
- If this is really an issue, use an Aqiri, they’re 30% faster than other pets (though you’ll lose the Gore and get a slow, Tendon Rip, instead). If you don’t need Primal Rage & leech or Fortitude of the Bear & extra health, then spec. it as Cunning for an additional 7% movement boost.
- Kill Command charges your pet to the target. Unless your pet is very far away, this should get them there quickly, as you’re going to be casting lots of Kill Commands.
- If you want to save it for clutch use, take Dash off autocast and save it for when you have to move your pet a long way.
- ETA: If it’s really 10-15 seconds, you might be better off dismissing the pet and resummoning it. Dismiss is only a 3 second cast. And of course, Concussive Shot, Wing Clip, Binding Shot and Tar Trap to slow your target. And just don’t let your pets chase a target halfway across the map away from you.
- At the distances you’re talking about, I presume this is battlegrounds or open world. Dismissing and summoning is frequently valid. Maybe even summoning a different pet that suits the conditions at the moment, like a fast pet with a snare for a flag carrier, and then later back to your Direhorn when you’re trying to burn something.

gotta think ahead in bgs. Def need a /passive bind somewhere. bm is all about pet management. In the situation you described you should have already brought your pets back to you if you planned on moving away from where you were to engage on a different target.
Macro dash to abilities this way they will run to targets at full speed.
