I’m a big fan of hardcore, even though a DC claimed the life of my main. With that said, it saddens me to watch moments of heroism turn into moments of cowardice.
Pull one extra mob? “PETRI, PETRI”
Boss is 5%, but two people are dead? “PETRI, PETRI”
Some of the most epic moments I’ve had in HC were kiting multiple mobs with friends or overpulling in a dungeon where everyone really needed to focus up or we would have died (like it should be).
It reminds me of the wakewilder clip where he immediately calls for petri after they pulled an extra couple mobs in Strat Live. They had a mage in the group, a rogue in the group, and plenty of CC opportunity. Instead he cried out “PETRI” and got their priest killed (who didn’t have a petri macro setup properly).
HC shouldn’t be about proper petri usage, it should be about playing your class even when the chips are against you. I often consider leveling another character, but watching every difficult encounter end with calls for petri flask really ruins the whole experience.
Amen dude. Have a bump. I really hope they disable the petri exploit now. The guys who just had to rush through all the raids with petri exploit had their fun. Let’s fix it and give us a proper end game for HC where cowardice isn’t so heavily rewarded
In the Addon days, we had to farm the mats for Petri and it was not as easy as it currently is, which sort of ruins it. On DP people just swipe buy 10 petris and chill. I’d like to see a lifetime limit of 4-6 petris per character.
Even in Diablo 2 Hardcore, people used plugins to avoid death by having it auto quit the game if you are about to die. Petri is basically an approved cheat.
The original HC rules banned bubble+hearth, but allowed petri because it allowed a way for the creators to make money off hardcore by selling gold (to buy petri flasks).
It’d be better if the bs was removed but than also remove petri. ie only humanoids should be able to dodge and only humanoids wielding a weapon should be able to parry, etc. (even if that meant buffing the mobs). How can a scorpion or a wolf parry my sword when they wouldn’t even know what a parry is.
I’d say 1x use per character, and each character receives a soulbound one for free at level 60.
Would it result in less HC raiding? Yes, but there’s Era if the only thing they wanna do is raid end-game content all day. On Era, just do soft elimination each raid. If a character dies in the raid, remove em from the raid and lock them out until next reset. It’s about the challenge right? If everyone follows the rules, you can have your challenge and don’t have to worry about losing your character.
Again only idiots who have never raided in HC say stupid crap like this. Like less then 2% of people in HC ever touch even a 20 man raid. We should make raiding even more player unfriendly lol.

Why is someone struggling to get past Hogger talking about what is hardcore?
So many people on here coping that the only reason they aren’t raiding is because they just chose not to because of petris when in reality they are just trash lol.
Who? 1-3 people? That is indeed a sum of people, but not necessarily a majority collective of people.
A majority of people likely know their limits and don’t raid on HC because it’s walking into a death trap. DEATH is expected. You could go do normal raiding in Era if death worries you so much.
