Please just remove all tanks from solo shuffle, even if queue times go up, it’s super worth it.

Let me paint you a picture of a tank shuffle for an optimistic young caster boy (let’s call him something totally random like idk Lasso or something) and how letting tanks take the place of healers can really put bad taste in someone’s mouth for this new game mode…
- It’s October 25th.
- You have been waiting for 13 hours for the servers to come back up.
- After being baited by 5 Biebz alts posting fake “servers are up” threads it’s finally real.
- You log in, select your Elemental Shaman, and are finally in the game.
- You excitedly select your new talents making the perfect solo shuffle build.
- You’re finally ready. Nothing can stop you from enjoying arena now. You queue your first solo shuffle game.
- The queue pops. You press enter. You are the first to load. You patiently wait for your partners to zone in.
- Then it happens. Your heart sinks as you see your teammates are a Prot and Fury Warrior. Then you look at the enemy team and see it’s Prot War/DK/DH.
- In the blink of an eye all of your hopes and dreams for solo shuffle have been dashed against the rocks as you realize you are now a glorified punching bag for 6 rounds of pure misery. There will be no healer to save you. There will be no second caster to peel for you or eat any kicks. No, it’s just you vs. 3 melee pummeling you for 6 rounds straight.
To borrow a page from my old buddy Phenomanon’s book: Tanks in Shuffle; Fix it.
Sooner or later you’re going to have to anyway as there’s no way there aren’t going to be tons of complaints about it. Just be proactive for once in this games history and address the problem before it starts and pushes more players away.

It’s very important that the formatting rules change quickly. I don’t think that blizzard will flat out disallow tanks in any rated/competitive endgame content type, but they could make them take a dps spot and enforce normal arena format (healer dps dps or healer tank dps).
Tanks having their own pseudobrackets within the larger queue environment is a huge issue of itself, regardless of dps/healer players wanting to play with them or not. They have the ability to dodge 95% of the meta and have a much better idea of what they’re going to queue into than the rest of the people that get matchmade into their matches. The nature of those matches being more “toss up” anyway because certain class/specs just don’t work without healers is going to create an environment where tank players can more or less just win trade with each other to higher ratings, and as a result more people will queue them. If they were in the regular pool, you’d end up queueing into them less, and the matches will probably be less frustrating.
