Petition to keep Zealotry

Is there any way Zealotry can stay? It’s a great trait for Holy Paladins to do WQs more efficiently and can be fun in some PvP situations. The current replacement to Zealotry is not available to Holy unfortunately.

Please consider this, thank you.

Yea what’s the point in removing zealotry? It helps to speed up non-mythic dungeons, questing, and gives holy paladins something to do when silenced or locked out of holy spells.

I agree this was amazing for doing daily quests as holy along with extra damage in dungeons that were not very healing intensive. Please do not remove from holy!

Thank you for the support. I hope Blizz sees this and considers us questing Hpals.

If they keep Zealotry, then there is no room for the new traits to come in for other specs for the class. On the PTR Zealotry is being replaced by a new Retribution trait, which seems to bring ret back on par to doing good in raids. As compared to Zealotry, it’s a garbage trait and I have no clue how it even got through to launch.

Not being rude, but all you can do is switch specs to Retribution for WQ. No effort required, and promises on doing them faster than being in holy.

Or they could replace a generic trait. Class specific are more interesting anyways.

We holy paladins are proud holy paladins. Going ret for WQ never crosses our minds.

Zealotry was never that great in the first place. Even with Zealotry (sometimes with two traits stacked in the past), the damage output of Crusader Strike + Zealotry didn’t amount to much of the total damage I was doing in both PvE and PvP. With only one trait, I almost always see my auto attack doing more total damage than both combined. (I don’t know how Blizzard could let an autoattack produce more overall damage than a baseline special attack, but then I don’t understand most of what Blizzard has done to paladins.)

Despite all of that, I would rather have kept Zealtory and seen them give it a buff (even if just for Ret) to provide some more consistent and reliable damage output increase. Now, with the replacement trait, Light’s Decree, I must rely on my burst even more so to increase overall damage output, and then I have to consider how an automatic AoE effect at the end of Avenging Wrath may affect nearby CC effects in PvP.

I don’t think they really understand the needs of the Ret spec.

I agree with you on that part; the new trait will cause us to go back to how it was in Legion where all our our damage mostly came from Crusade; which right now on the PTR with Light’s Decree, I sim higher with Crusade than Inquisition. If they changed up how Zealotry worked and added an extra mechanic, it could fix it.

Crusade seems to be a good choice for raids where time-on-target is higher and boss/encounter cc effects are fewer than in PvP. I wonder, however, if it would provide enough up-front burst for PvP. Would be interesting to try out.

In regards to Zealotry, they could have first increased the base damage of Crusader Strike, and then Zealotry could have increased the crit of CS and/or decreased the cooldown.

It’s nothing fancy, but would have helped with overall damage output and gaps in rotation.

Or they could make Crusader Strike hit harder than an auto attack…
