My pet keeps aggro just fine, have you been ranking up its abilities?

I think it just has to do with you out performing your pet in terms of damage, my warlock has the same issue with my voidwalker, regardless whether it’s taunting non stop. Sometimes the taunt misses too, so that could be it and you are just not noticing. But you have to remember it is a pet, not a tank. Can’t expect it to hold aggro 100% of the time.

Turn on Growl and don’t open with an Aimed Shot.
That’s because voidwalkers are really bad at keeping threat up, unlike hunter pets which do ridiculous amounts of damage on top of having threat-generating abilities.

Silly thing, but make sure your pet has a growl / taunt ability and that it is set to be used on CD.
You’re doing it wrong, get Classic Threat Meter, have growl on 24/7 (except in dungeons) and let your pet attack first. It carries you!
Did you train and spec your pet right? Do you have growl on? Do you have a boar or a bear? Did you put dps points in on your pet? Is your pet happy to be around you? Lots of variables with pets.

Yes pet has growl on. Pet has all abilities trained up (except claw is still rank 2) But… its a cat!

My memory of Vanilla is that VW sucked at keeping aggro (even talented for it), but hunter pets were quite good at it. As others have said, make sure you train the highest ranks of its abilities. And if you somehow pull aggro…feign. Hunter has it SO easy I don’t know how anyone complains.

If Claw is on auto, your pet will be focus starved and won’t cast Growl on cooldown.

Owl is best tank.
Boar best tank because of charge stun. Bear is a close second for me anyway. THIS IS JUST MY WAY OF PLAYING. Apparently disclaimers have to be added on comments.
Screech is nice aoe threat and owl gets dive too, so it’s pretty fast.

I think boar gets stomp later or is that bear? Oh I don’t know… I have to relook up pets for tanking.
Make sure you are pet training the highest level of Growl your pet can use. If you are still using Growl 1, it is a problem.
If your pet is using several dps abilities that consume all of its focus, it will cause Growl to get skipped. ie If you are using both Claw and Bite, you might want to turn one of them off.
No one thinks your dumb, we have not played this game in 15 years.

If I add a multi shot in there I usually pull otherwise mob won’t charge me till very end
I haven’t crap gear, take off some armor so u lose stats
