just started a mm hunter for the first time was wondering what pet I should be using or looking for to tame or do I use lone wolf ?

You’ll want to immediately switch specializations to Beast Master while taming any pet and enjoying the game

You can use whatever pet you like except exotic pets, only BM’s can tame exotic pets, check out the website I posted I’m sure you find something you’ll like and they all can tank and dps

MM usually goes Lone Wolf. I’d still keep a Scalehide if you need to solo something.

In dungeons, lone Wolf is just easier because you don’t have to worry about pet control or having your pet accidentally pull stuff. Although having a ferocity pet for primal range is useful but it’s an instant to call one. Bats and Nether rays are ferocity pets that also have a buff cleanse/dispel ability.
Open world, use a scalehide. But unlike a bm hunter, mm pets don’t do as well at generating threat even with growl and misdirection because with mm the hunter is doing way, way more damage than the pet and your damage can easily pull threat from the pet. It’s rarely a big deal unless you’re fighting an elite, in which case you may need to feign death at times when your misdirection has worn off.

I prefer not to use pets, but I do keep some with me just in case I get myself into trouble. Lol Scalehides are definitely good for soloing stuff.
