Pet dying while leveling

Hey all! I decided (unfortunately for my social life) to dive back into WOW this expac. been a few years (played for like a month in DF) and so far I have been having fun. but yesterday my pet started dying quite often. I am playing survival and currently just doing the main questline. Didnt really expect this to be happening so often and I havent even started misdirecting to the pet yet. is anyone else going through this? should I take out a tenacity pet while I level? or is there an add on to make our pets bigger? this way its easier for me to tell when its died? I unfortunately never look at the poor guys health bar during battle lol

I noticed my pet getting much more squishy as I leveled. At 80 both my pet and myself are taking a lot more damage then I recall from prior expansion starts. I can deal with it, but it’s very noticeable.

Definitely happening. I’ve just been more liberal with exhilaration since it comes back so fast.

That and binding shot, intimidation, traps, and throwing mend pet in here and there.

Still using a ferocity pet (grong). Don’t know how helpful the leech is atm, but yeah gotta pay attention to the pet atm.

Some ferocity pets like grong (gorilla) have defensive skills which can help. Dude definitely gets chunked by mobs though lol.

I gave up trying to revive him, I’m carrying 5 pets, when one dies I just call the other.

Now I can do PVE, but now I had to give up using only my favorite pet…

I won, but at what cost?..

Unless something changed for TWW you can’t summon a new pet while your current one is dead.

After FIVE LONG YEARS at the end of Dragonflight Hunter pet leech went from 15% to 5% with a nerf? Why? Nobody knows, prob a gladiator had issues killing one in the arena and cried though is my guess. Now Pet Mend WILL be apart of your ow rotation and it WILL stay on the GCD.

Praise e-sports!

All leech was nerfed, not just hunters. Also, you aren’t using aspect of the beast that buffed pet leech by 50%.

Thats a good point but to be fair Icy Veins and Wowhead have mythic/raiding/delve&OW talent builds and none of those six builds have that talent taken so it obviously isn’t worth it for whatever reason.

As Survival or Marksmanship, use a Scalehide pet. As Beast Mastery, use a Clefthoof pet. Spec into Wilderness Medicine, include Mend Pet in your rotation while questing and doing Delves, then, hope for the best.

Hunters, especially BM hunters were hit several times with the Nerf bat. You need to use your whole kit now including your defensives when questing. I am enjoying this expac but the nerfed the crap out of a lot of spec with the BM hunter IMO being hit the hardest.

You do realize it’s because BM hunters were doing 45% more damage than everyone else right?

So, they over nerfed them?

No. You just can’t randomly push buttons and do good damage anymore.

As item levels go up it won’t even be noticeable. The only time I’m having issues is with elites. And even then it’s not super bad.

This is a good idea, Im gonna bring out my ole gorilla! been years since I used him

Pets got nuked all of df if you didn’t press mend pet regularly in arena.

So definitely not the PvP community complaining, if anything it would’ve been the opposite.

My Beast Mastery Hunter is level 79.5. I noticed more difficulty with questing, but still do-able. When I go to kill any level 80 elite in a group, my pet dies constantly.

I just tried a level 2 delve solo (waterworks) which use to be no problem. My pet and I kept dying (2 times) and I gave up and left the delve.

As a Beast Mastery Hunter, I rely on my pet to tank and keep mobs off me. In my opinion, the BM hunters must have their pet’s abilities scaled to similarly to the enemies’ changes to be able to keep mobs off the hunter.

I have been a Beast Mastery hunter through wow, a purist in terms of the spec. I am not complaining; I am merely stating a fact.

There’s a weakaura out there that flashes when your pet is low HP to help and a talent to make Mend Pet heal an additional 50% HP while cleansing. Packleader also has a node to make Mend heal more. Aspect of the Beast talent isn’t used as much as it was in DF so pets are squishier than we’re used to but the occasional mend pet cast and it won’t die

Since hunters are not leading in any damage numbers pvp or pve I think taking mend pet off the gcd is an easy win here honestly. two hunter specs rely on their pets in order to be successful so we need a lil better way to keep them up

To be fair your pet is awful for soloing, get a clefthoof. Take the MD talent that reduces damage your pet takes. I had zero issue leveling, and pressing mend pet isnt hard. BM hunter doesnt a have a get out of jail ez time soloing anymore which is fine. Its been too easy forever, let hunters actually try now and play smart to stay alive.

I have mained a BM hunter forever…I usually use a Devilsaur for questing, Its a great tank and keeps mobs off me, BUT Since this new xpac I am stomping the heal button and feeding the hell out of him. I have never had a squishier pet. I came here too see if others are having issues and I see it seems to be common. Is there a talent which may help on the durability of our pet? Would appreciate the feedback …thanks!
