Hi so this is my first time on classic. I need some facts plsss. I like summons and pet classes, also don’t mind support classes. Is hunter or warlock pet stronger? Are pets any good endgame or should I just go a healer class instead if pets are bad.
pets are good. warlock pets are lower maintenance, and hunter pets are more interactive.
From what I’ve been reading about warlocks in max level group content, their pets are mostly mana batteries, stam buffs, something to sacrifice to boost your own dps, or situational CC. They’re not really a direct integral part of your damage generation, that is, they don’t do a lot of damage on their own.
That depends on you. Hunter pets are integral to hunter dps, but, unlike retail, they get hit really hard by all the mechanics in a raid and so die easily. Warlock pets aren’t as necessary for raiding, but they’re no where near as useful for leveling. Voidwalkers just aren’t good tanks compared to pretty much and hunter pet.
If you really use a pet, be a hunter and learn to micromanage it. If using the pet isn’t that important, just be a shaman healer. Everybody could always use another shaman.
Ty guys Imma just go druid I think.
Hunter pets constantly need attention and feeding. Warlock pets require the souls of the creatures you slay.
To be honest? Warlock pets get more play than Hunter pets in endgame content, except for PvP. A Warlock with an Imp is always welcome for the stamina buff. A hunter who forgets to take his cat off ‘aggressive’ wipes the raid by pulling mobs too soon.
As a warlock in raids, you’re pretty much looking at using your imp most of the time, except for on Garr in MC, because voidwalkers can help lock down the adds if a banish breaks early, keeping them from running through the raid and killing healers. If you’re Demonology, you’ll probably summon your succubus to sacrifice her for a 15% buff to damage.
In the open world, however, when you’re farming gold or mats or doing quests for rep, both warlocks and hunters definitely love having their pets around. As a warlock, well, your pet gives you options. I run a Succubus most of the time, and Soul Link, so I’m doing 13% extra damage whenever she’s out, on top of her own damage. She’s too squishy to keep around in raids (I’d be constantly resummoning her), but in the open world she’s a godsend.
From my own experience with hunters in classic, its best to get a Raptor pet. They do the most damage per hit. If youre playing an orc you even have a extra 5% pet damage. When I lvled up my orc hunter my raptor shredded everything.
Everyone goes for cats while lvling and I don’t understand why. They attack fast but they don’t do as much dps as raptors. Raptors are even better if you spec BM, and have the pet crit talents maxed out, since raptors hit really hard
Warlock pets are extremely squishy and don’t come anywhere near as tough as hunter pets.
My raptor pet has soloed 3 players so far while I was lvling up my hunter, 2 mages and 1 rogue. Hunter pets are extremely dangerous if you don’t CC them properly or ignore them in PvP. The 2 mages it killed frost nova’ed me and tried to abuse my 8 yard deadzone, while my pet was off in the distance fighting something. My pet just ran back and destroyed them, especially when I poped bestial wrath. Same thing happened with the rogue when I poped BW before he tried to stunlock me.
Hunter pets are overall generalist pets, but require a little maintenance.
Warlock pets have more utility in their niche.
Both are good. But in both cases the pet is just a small additional feature of the class.
That fast attack speed gives them more chances to proc Frenzy. Pretty sure some spreadsheet figured out that this was more damage overall. Plus cats are good in PvP. For my money, a boar is the best pet to have during leveling. Charge gets them on target super fast and they eat just about everything.
you wont be using your pet endgame as lock, just for pvp. and if you do is to buff the tank group with stamina, he will not be able to attack
This can be resolved easily by considering your musical tastes.
Are you partial more to country music? Go Hunter.
Or more to heavy metal? Go Warlock.
As a fan of Sabaton, Iced Earth, and Rhapsody of Fire, I concur.
Hunters are trash in pvp if thats your thing.
Lock is a god
Embrace the darkness, kill her and revel in shadow power.
