Pet Battles Are Completely Broken and Blizzard Doesn’t Care

I don’t even know why I bother with pet battles anymore. It’s like Blizzard just gave up on balancing them. Every single PvP pet battle is the same handful of overpowered pets dominating everyone else. What’s the point in collecting and leveling pets if you’re forced to use the same three broken pets just to have a chance?

The power creep in pet battles is unreal. How are new pets supposed to compete when every season there’s some over-tuned beast that just steamrolls everything? And it’s not even just one pet—it’s entire pet families that are busted. You got a new pet that looks cool? Great, too bad it’s completely useless because it wasn’t released with an OP stun or AoE spam that wipes out your whole team in two rounds.

Blizzard’s solution? Nothing. They just sit there and let the meta stagnate while we’re stuck using the same pets forever. Here’s a wild idea:

  1. Nerf the overpowered pets for once. Or are you too busy ignoring this feature entirely?
  2. Give buffs to the hundreds of useless pets we’ve all spent time collecting. It’s like 90% of the roster is just there for show and doesn’t even stand a chance in PvP.

Blizzard, stop treating pet battles like they don’t matter. Some of us actually enjoy this part of the game, but not if it’s just a one-sided slaughter fest. Balancing the pets can’t be that hard, so stop pretending this whole mode doesn’t exist. Get your act together before we all quit this joke of a system.

I just like how every boss pet battle for the last several expansions is always solved by Unborn Valkyrie and Ikky. You’d think blizz would have noticed by now.

Pet battles are cute, but its just a small minigame compared to everything else. I don’t think its supposed to be taken too seriously.

Pet battle PvP has to be such a small segment of players that Blizz is IMO justified in spending zero time balancing

It wont let me do PvP pet battles. I did 10 back in Cata and they have been glitched for me ever since. Not even when I try anything do they work.

Oh and Baby Blizzard Bear USED to have a bleed effect but ofc they had to nerf that so now it kinda sucks. It used to have a bleed effect on its bite.

Lack of interest from the community. The majority seem content with just collecting, so why put effort into PvP balancing?

Personally I stopped caring about pet battles when every damn boss pet for world quests started feeling like I had to raise a specific team of battle pets to beat, and every damn one needed something different.

I just wanted to romp around and have fun with my favorite pets, I didn’t want to have to sink hours grinding and leveling up specific random pets over and over again for every different world quest.

Now I just skip the pet battle world quests. Which is a shame because I liked it when it came out.

If you decide you want to do the world quests most of them are pretty easy with a few pets that are cheap or at least easy to acquire

Just quoting this for emphasis because it’s bang on the money. I stopped bothering because I don’t want to have to level up a new team for each damn one.

I just do for the rep anymore. I just use level 1’s and press 1.

It’s always been the same handful of overpowered pets dominating. I did a lot of PvP in Mists and was just wave after wave of Anubisath Idols, Unborn Valkyrs, Kovoks… there was a snake with a blinding poison in there for a while…

Tedious, lol.

Edit: To be clear it’s not the same pets dominating this whole time, there are just always a few you’re going to run into over and over and over at any point

I have never liked that combo. I like to make them undead then stampede them down.
