Pet Battle Challenges Are Objectively Harder than Raids

Jesus do I now have respect for pet battlers who beat these dungeon challenges.

Did WC’s earlier today and I was sweating. From pet battling. Thought for sure I was out of gas on the last boss but it came down to a whirlpool going off before the enemy could land one more attack on me. That would’ve finished me off with no decent pets to go after that. Good lord there should be mounts or something for beating these challenges.

Most people just follow guides for pet batlles and use an addon that saves specific script for each fights and semi-automate fights.

Maybe? But man spending an hour getting to the end and only winning by a single move…man it would’ve felt awful wasting that time to have to start all over again.

Wailing caverns is by far the easiest of the bunch. Neat idea but the all or nothing iron man set up gets old and frustrating real quick.

Wish they’d come up with a more amusement park, dark moon faire like content for pets.

You have rematch installed?

If you don’t I wouldn’t go further with that content without getting it and learning what it can do.

More difficult than raiding and more grindy than trying to get every single holiday event achievement on just one single toon.

I do have it installed but don’t really use it. I guess I’ll look at it. Let me guess, Blizz got into an arms race with pet battlers?

I won’t deny that beating the celestial tournament the first time was a huge fist-pumping moment for me.

But it wasn’t so much that I actually liked the difficulty. I liked what it represented: the grand finale of an epic journey that had taken most of MoP for me to reach.

Pet dungeons never recaptured that feeling for me. They were all the stress without the joy and innocence of exploring a new system and wanting to see it through to the end. I just wanted to earn the rewards and be done.

At some point, I hit a wall and started waiting for others to find strategies and just followed the paint-by-numbers solutions they came up with.

I know it’d probably be a nightmare to implement, but I’ve wanted to see them do co-op battles, where you’d have like 5 players using 5 pets against the same boss group.

It’s a bit weird, because I’ve wanted that since before Pokemon Sword/Shield/Scarlet/Violet did “raid battles”, so if it ever happens, it’d kind of be borrowing from Pokemon again.

There is a trick to healing pets between battles.

Shut down the game, log into another toon, use a Pet bandage, then log back into the Pet dungeon challenge.

Do it quickly and youre all good.

Not everyone has the multiples of all the exact types of pets needed to win.

Ive done all but Stratholme. That one will be a challenge.

Dungeons? Some of the “one main boss pet” pet battles are brutally hard :joy:

It’s like, first of all, the “main boss pet” always seem to attack first… then your pet is instantly chunked down to like 40% HP, then you get maybe 1 turn/1 attack in, then your pet gets hit again and it dies

And don’t get me started on the “AOEs your back-bench pets” main boss pets, by the time your third pet takes the field it’s already like 40%-50% HP just from “AOE the back-bench” AOE abilities :face_with_spiral_eyes:

…Seriously?

That’s what the WC one did. Chunked all of my pets down to about 40% health and killed off my first pet. Luckily my second pet had higher speed and was able to finish him, but that still left me with two low-health pets to finish the other two remaining enemies >:(

Yep. Try it after the first boss in one of the challenges so you can see how it works. I usually Alt+F4 to kill the game rather than shut it down.

The hardest part of pet battling is getting a large portion of your collection to level 25 and rare quality. You also want to have the correct breed for certain pets.

After that, you just do what the comments in Wowhead tell you to do.

No, it lets you save teams and setups per opponent. Also once you get used to it, it teaches you the rock paper scissors aspect of pet families.

So once you find a team that works for an opponent you can save it, then load up next time you fight them.
