is it me or does pet aggro not even a thing? when a MISS SHOT can pull aggro …ya
Hmm … aggro … did work different in Vanilla, in fact it worked that way until WotLK. In Cataclysm they took out that Tank Defensive Rating and made Tanks auto crit-immune … and with that they reworked how aggro worked.
Pets Basic Attacks did not create any aggro, the only skill that did was Growl and that was more like a Taunt then a “increase aggro on mob” thing, as it is on Live.
Also, Healers could pull aggro easy, because their Spells never missed but Tanks attacks could … that’s why you would not start healing right away when the Tank pulled because if the Tank had a miss string …
I dont remeber hunter pets stoping half way to the mob waiting till it got into the face of the hutner THEN getting aggro…bearly
Hmm, i remember i always opened with Concussive Shot … once Kill Command was out i used that.
But it might be Pathing issues if it doesn’t run to the mob, or Lag.
Probably lag, even after lvl 11 there is lag here and there.
Also did you train and turn on taunt? you might have to right click it (has shiny boarders)?
I want you to DPS slowly!
First, growl is not a hard taunt. It’s a temporary threat multiplier. Second, are you allowing your pet time to build aggro? This is not retail where you can attack immediately and the tank or pet never loses aggro.
Pet aggro is a thing… my dog just scratched my leg to take her out potty… ugh… brb.
must be by 0 then
I do love watchig my pet go LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT trying to i guess get aggro …
As others have stated, Growl is a thing that you need to train. Another thing to note is that pets aren’t all the same. If your pet is not tenacity (bear, crab, boar, etc.), it is not a tank. It will have a very hard time keeping agro away from you.
…and when I say slowly I mean &$@#ing slow
IF it has to be trained what this OTHER spell thats auto learn called Growl…
and the trainer doesn have growl…probably cause you auto learn it.
My pets working fine.
That’s… not actually true. Tank pets are actually pretty mediocre because they deal next to no damage (especially turtles) and don’t hold threat any better than a damage pet. Honestly, quite possible they do less threat as it’s mostly based on damage and Growl.
Let your pet pull. If you are attacking first, then you are relying on your pet to 1) catch the mob and 2) taunt the mob and 3) having that taunt actually work. Gotta slow your role.
Bears and turtles make the best tanks in vanilla iirc those were the two main tanks I had. They can lose aggro very easily even as a tank and they need to be at level with the mob, if not they wont hold aggro at all.
So send pet in WAIT till the mobs about 40% hp and then start attackign got it and they said hunter is easy
They’re the best, “tanks” in that they have the most defensive stats, but they do far less damage and don’t hold threat as well. So you’re better off with a damage pet.
Owl is best tank.
