Perspective of a Latecomer to M+ This Season

I started two months late. I read about how hard it is this season, so I did an M0 and it was pretty rough. Lots of deaths. Lots of us low ilevel guys going “yikes this is hard.”

But after awhile things started to click. I’m by no means a master of all these dungeons, but I managed to get to 1760 as I edge closer to KSM. This is all through pugging btw which is harder I think than set groups. (but maybe easier read below)

They lowered the requirement of KSM which is interesting, but they also squished everything which is jarring. The different between even a +4 and +5 is sharp. I get why people are annoyed.

I gear partially through delves… its… cool and weird. I run 8 delves, and 8 dungeons and cross my fingers. So far not terribly lucky with the vault. Crests are a chore to farm and you don’t get a lot. Every .8 dungeons or something you get 3 ilevels. That’s slow. I never raid anymore either.

I do enjoy the xpac. I’m enjoying my spec a lot. I like the zones. I think the dungeons are fun. Dawnbreaker is really fun!

I don’t think the difficulty is anything that a decent player can’t overcome, but I do think that it’s something that a bad group can’t overcome.

If I was in the wrong group this season, and I was bonded to them it might break the group apart because these dungeons require everyone to be doing their job.

I’ve already been in dungeons where I’m at 34 interrupts, and the tank is at 18… and the next person is at 4… and the person with 4 has wind shear! That group barely made it. Forcing 2/5 of the group to carry all the interrupts is bad, and I see this a lot.

As a pugger as long as I do mechanics and interrupt I can easily hit 2k. Any semi-decent player can still hit 2k, but if you’re in a bad group that you never leave you’re screwed.

I can go from bad group to good group, but I think a lot of people really having a hard time are in mediocre groups, and they are stuck in those groups, and this season is eating them alive.

Two of my friends washed out this season, and I know they both tend to play with set friends with disparate skill sets. That doesn’t work this season like it did before.

Average to good players who pug will all eventually make it.

Good to hear you’re having a good time with M+. I also feel iffy about making an alt during mid season but it hasn’t been too bad for me.

Aim for 2.5k IO I believe in you man.

That said I don’t see the issue with having a skill ceiling. If the players or set groups are hard stuck at a certain point then they have reached that ceiling and it’s up to them to improve in order to break threw it.

The make it easier for them arguement doesn’t work. If it’s easier at y in a scaling system then lower difficulty multiplicatively means easier at x meaning the ceiling cap gets even more higher.

If you want to make a mid-season alt, just make something that can tank/heal.

This toon had zero keys done like 3ish weeks ago, I healed until like 1800 IO, then swapped to Shadow and started posting my own keys. IO came as easy as every other season minus groups fail more often now for whatever reason. You can climb still, just isn’t as active as other seasons because less people are tanking/healing.

KSM has never been this hard to get. They deflated M+ score.

Yeah it’s like… “easier” but harder?

I do feel how rough it is in a +6 with a 609 ilevel. heh

Affixes are easier than they used to be, but KSM requires 4 more key levels than in previous seasons.

I’m almost 1900 now… so another week or two or whatever.

I can feel the pain in 6’s with 610 ilevel. I’m impressed by these wizards that apparently do 10’s in 600 gear.
