Personal Loot Option?

So are they devs gonna give us a personal loot option? I don’t think that was even possible in TBC?

I watched the b.s. in classic. It was one raid after another abusing master loot. The people that deny that this ever happens are deluded. They are the same people that say “join another raid” and then accuse of you of deserving less loot because you were “raid hopping” (in the same argument).

Master loot sucks. People are inherently unethical creatures and require heavy training to actually understand how to manage ethical dilemmas. It takes years of proper training/study for a law school student to be a judge. You can forget about even 1/4 of that level of impartiality in a video game.

#nochanges was nice in classic but I’m over it. Living in the past isn’t going to solve a system that will inevitably be abused by unscrupulous raid leaders who don’t even understand the words: cronyism, favoritism, greed, and yes plain old stupidity.

Yep I won’t there! If you think you can run master loot properly based on your shallow perception of ethics your raid will implode.

You’re not up to it… well maybe you’re special, but honestly if you are that person you’re not getting mad at me right now for writing this. You’re too good of a person to get mad about this. You spent your life thinking long and hard about how your decisions may cascade and hurt people. You would applaud someone like me pointing out how flawed a system this is.

Because once you took an ethics class, and were humbled by it. Then you strived to do better… you spent years at it… step by step. Learning why justice is blind. Learning how to setup a social contract and not violate it. Learning how to balance rewards between two people with very different skill sets. Learning to align the goals of the organization against the goals of the individual. And also learning not to abuse your power. Leadership carries intense responsibility.

And you even learned one of the hardest lessons. That no matter how hard you tried there would be times when it becomes IMPOSSIBLE to be fair because of unexpected scenarios. But when this happens you’re ready. You explain this rare dilemma so eloquently that the people under your forgive you, because they know how hard you’re trying, and that usually you do a wonderful job of distributing rewards. The rare, unfair situation isn’t your fault. It’s just Blizzard’s system testing everyone. Sometimes the dice show snake eyes, but your raid still likes you, and they don’t hate each other afterwards.

But you probably aren’t the person I’m talking about. They aren’t common. In fact they are rare and if you were that ethical, and good at management you wouldn’t be reading this. You would be raking in millions in consulting fees, to help a company avoid the next Enron debacle.

The big dogs pay up for the service of an angel, but god is low on soldiers.

Personal loot is much better. Faster, simpler, no wasting time figuring out what goes where, less drama. It could use refinements, like not giving duplicate loot, but overall its a better way to handle drops than older methods. There’s a reason why most modern games moved to individual loot systems.

Personal loot didn’t come out until much later. I last played retail during mists of pandaria and I’m fairly certain it wasn’t a thing then.

Go play retail if you want personal loot.

Personal loot is the worst system Blizzard ever created. It was designed to gear raids slower by wasting gear that is needed and wanted by forcing players to disenchant loot that others could use by blocking trades

If you want PL go to retail

Tldr: make your own raids or stop complaining. There is an option in game to not run with people who don’t do loot how you like it. For all we know you’re a loot goblin.

Join another guild.

Personal Loot came out in MoP but was limited to LFR. I think it was the testing ground for the loot system.

If you want personal loot go play retail. I despise personal loot.

Many don’t want all the BS from retail including personal loot and want to play classic. Classic’s design fosters more teamwork and community where reputation matters

Stop trying to make Classic retail

As an option sure why not?

I don’t know where all this drama comes from. I have seen maybe 2-3 drops taken by ninjas in my whole time playing from P1-6.

Hardly anyone I know has had loot stolen off them, and those who did just let everyone know and we just didn’t group with them from then on.

I guess if you just can’t find a cohesive guild (which is half the point of an MMO) then personal loot could be added as a bandaid for the purely solo/pug players. But I think unless you were willing to start your own raids anyway, no one would bother running personal loot groups because masterlooting is both the preferred loot system for guilds and GDKPs alike.

Has anyone posted the obligatory, “You think you want it, but you don’t!” yet?

Personal loot being added as an option was fine.

Personal loot being forced upon us as the only option was one of the reasons I canceled my sub in retail.

I have zero belief that it will rear its ugly head in TBC, but if by some strange twist of fate it did, I would cancel again.

Master loots sucks if you’re silly enough to join an underachieving clique guild with no transparent loot system.

My guild had spreadsheets that had all loot distribution planned ahead of time, everyone knew who was getting what if it dropped, who waa next in line after them etc… if anyone had problems (rare) or suggestions to improve the system we could bring up the loot sheets and evaluate.

Not a single loot drama issue in my guild all of Classic.

i think it should be an option but not a mandatory thing it would help out pug raids but at the same time it’s just need and greed with less steps idk i think they should add it as an option to use since it wont change anything in a major way i also think they should bring hunters a better rotation but that’s for a dif time

my guild only had 2 that i know of and i raided up til early aq and the only drama was around a zg mount drop and a nef drop i cant remember if it was the mace or the cloth hat but we need open rolls it all depends on the people youre with

Personal agency issue. Find a better guild. Either one that doesn’t “abuse” master loot, or one that doesn’t use master loot. Simple.

Damn ZG raptor now that is an item that will cause some drama!

On my server there is a guy who became infamous for ninja’ing the Raptor,
The whole server found out of course and he couldn’t log on without everyone calling him a ninja and hating on him.

He tried to push through it but after 1-2 months he stopping playing.

He still occasionally logs on, and he still gets heat from everyone wherever he goes and is basically blacklisted from any events so he doesn’t log on much anymore.

It’s not actually bad, even in soft reserve groups it’s not bad.

The only place where loot is not good is in a guild who’s corrupt, and those do not last long where better guilds exist.

In TBC loot is easily obtained any way, it uses an AQ like badge system and we have basically half a raid team and more drops.

The “Need” for personal loot is nonexistent.
