So are they devs gonna give us a personal loot option? I don’t think that was even possible in TBC?
I watched the b.s. in classic. It was one raid after another abusing master loot. The people that deny that this ever happens are deluded. They are the same people that say “join another raid” and then accuse of you of deserving less loot because you were “raid hopping” (in the same argument).
Master loot sucks. People are inherently unethical creatures and require heavy training to actually understand how to manage ethical dilemmas. It takes years of proper training/study for a law school student to be a judge. You can forget about even 1/4 of that level of impartiality in a video game.
#nochanges was nice in classic but I’m over it. Living in the past isn’t going to solve a system that will inevitably be abused by unscrupulous raid leaders who don’t even understand the words: cronyism, favoritism, greed, and yes plain old stupidity.
Yep I won’t there! If you think you can run master loot properly based on your shallow perception of ethics your raid will implode.
You’re not up to it… well maybe you’re special, but honestly if you are that person you’re not getting mad at me right now for writing this. You’re too good of a person to get mad about this. You spent your life thinking long and hard about how your decisions may cascade and hurt people. You would applaud someone like me pointing out how flawed a system this is.
Because once you took an ethics class, and were humbled by it. Then you strived to do better… you spent years at it… step by step. Learning why justice is blind. Learning how to setup a social contract and not violate it. Learning how to balance rewards between two people with very different skill sets. Learning to align the goals of the organization against the goals of the individual. And also learning not to abuse your power. Leadership carries intense responsibility.
And you even learned one of the hardest lessons. That no matter how hard you tried there would be times when it becomes IMPOSSIBLE to be fair because of unexpected scenarios. But when this happens you’re ready. You explain this rare dilemma so eloquently that the people under your forgive you, because they know how hard you’re trying, and that usually you do a wonderful job of distributing rewards. The rare, unfair situation isn’t your fault. It’s just Blizzard’s system testing everyone. Sometimes the dice show snake eyes, but your raid still likes you, and they don’t hate each other afterwards.
But you probably aren’t the person I’m talking about. They aren’t common. In fact they are rare and if you were that ethical, and good at management you wouldn’t be reading this. You would be raking in millions in consulting fees, to help a company avoid the next Enron debacle.
The big dogs pay up for the service of an angel, but god is low on soldiers.
