Is this a bug or something? Every time I type in my Character’s name, it says ‘That Player does not exist.’… am I missing something? Can I not place a personal crafting order for myself?
Nope, you cannot.
Then… what’s the point of a personal crafting order?
So that others can send you their work orders directly.
So, if I muck-up a public crafting order and want it recrafted, I’m SoL?
I’m not understanding why you would need to place a crafting order to yourself when you can literally just open the crafting interface and craft anything that could be submitted to you. If you do not have the skills required to craft the item, that’s where crafting orders come into play and to get an item recrafted you will need to look for an appropriate craftsman through trade or other means to send them a personal crafting order.

Ah, okay, that makes more sense… I think.
Crafting orders come in 3 types: Public, Personal, and Guild. All 3 share similar purposes of getting an item you want crafted for you by somebody else. The only way to get an item recrafted, however, is via a guild or personal order.
That said, if you have the appropriate profession and skill, you can always just craft the item yourself.
