Raid instances are group loot as in the return of need, greed, disenchant or skip.
For completeness quests, open world and PvP also exist yet are not the topic here.
I like personal loot. I am not looking forward to the previous group loot user interface pop up and demand a choice for each drop in looking for raid (LFR).
Congratulations if group loot is your choice for raids. There is no good reason this game cannot (again) have a setting to make everyone happy.
I am not sure what (if anything) about the following is new yet please let me describe it. Groups default to personal loot yet pre-made groups can be changed to group or lead/master loot.
Dungeon instances with pre-made groups set as desired (and no change to finder).
Raid instances with pre-made groups set as desired (LFR would [still] be personal loot).
Other sources of loot unaffected (either way).
From my perspective having a setting for loot (again) was not given due consideration.
No personal loot in LFR and arguably Normal is going to be a disaster. People will need on stuff for transmog (Which is perfectly fine) which they would’ve otherwise gotten from personal loot without upsetting people. (Which is the issue).
All this is going to do is create negative social experiences for players. Need before Greed with free trade works for guilds. Not pugs. Don’t let it go live like this.
I think we need to wait and see. With the new rules on GL, it’s not that much different from PL. Only this time, the system rolls openly and the gear drops are completely random.
Could be bad, could be okay. It may all depend on maturity levels.
Group loot is nbg with its own rule unlike the old nbg were we could need /greed all loot. This s just Blizzard trying to find middle ground.
The only players who have the right to go bonkers over this are enchanters who needs epic loot to disenchant and them need rolling is going bring alot of drama
I remember a plate wearer NEEDING on cloth pieces bc he was an enchanter and wanted the shards. Meanwhile, it would have been a huge upgrade for the disc priest in the group. Guess who didn’t get any heals for the rest of the encounters.
Plate wearers aren’t going to be able to roll need on cloth. Their class has to be able to actually use it to roll need on it. Did nobody read the rules for group loot in Dragonflight?
I don’t think y’all understand how personal loot worked… To be clear, group loot is set to work the exact same way just with visible rolls instead of hidden ones. With one exception; you can’t need a piece you already have at same or better ilvl, which Personal Loot didn’t care for.
Edit for even more clarification; if you have everyone who is eligible roll need on every item they can (which you can only do on items for your class), it’s almost the exact same as what personal loot did.
I remember they had already fixed need or greed before it was removed. People talking about the classic need for greed system with plate wearers needing on cloth will not be a thing…
Yea they should probably just make it a decision between group or personal, easy way to make everyone happy. LFR definitely doesn’t really need to be group loot.
This is another example of the community almost unanimously agreeing they don’t want something, and Blizzard being like “Nah, we already announced it!”
What insight do you have on the consideration they gave it? Just because you don’t like the outcome doesn’t mean they didn’t think about the issue carefully.
There’s posts every week almost from people mad that someone kept a ok item for mog, and that’s just what gets posted here.
Personal loot is the best option since some members of the WoW gaming experience can’t seem to not roll need on any and everything they see (Yes, vanilla hunters, we’re talking about you).
It was the only way to keep those kinds of… people in check.
Or Master loot everything. But guess what? Some master looters are also only out for themselves and are very greedy. So you’ll waste hours just so the master looter and his friends get everything and the pugs get screwed.
Yeah do things with a guild. Can I find one that raids on the weekends at normal people hours not this insanity of raid times T-Th 10pm to 2am!
I love my sleep and I love having money to spend on OW2 cosmetics and WoW items.
The moral of the story: people can suck, group loot sucks, personal loot – acceptable.
i already see a way to exploit the new group loot rules, people are gonna figure it out, and be rolling on stuff they already have to troll others. i think personal loot needs to stay as well.
