I see this very difficult as most of the spells uses their wings and mouth. But I think it is possible. It would be amazing though

Just make them use fake glowing wings for that and they don’t need to be a dragon to breath fire.

As much customization as the visage forms got I feel like people should have the option to stay in it if they wanted even during combat

If this can ever be implemented I would leave my mage and choose evoker without thinking

It’s not even a question of “if”
It’s 100% doable with what they have in game now.
It’s just an option to NOT swap the playermodel ID to the Drakthyr ID.
This would be the easiest win in the world for an expansion that’s pretty good but can’t seem to either get or keep player’s interested in it.
They would need to make some animations to replace the wings spells and fire breath how would it be?
Not really.
Monk Chi roll or torpedo would fit the deep breath pretty well.
Typhoon already exists for the wing knockback and worked fine for over a decade.
If you use your hover (IDK the name) in visage form you just use priest levitate.
These are just the substitutions that I came up with off the top of my head. I’m certain there are other better ones that you could use.
In the meantime you can use Gamon’s Braid and play your Dragonboi as a poorly dressed Tauren with a 20 year old Greataxe model and everything continues to work just fine.
I am happy enough that I can set it to revert to visage automatically. I wish they would give the same to Gilneans. I hate having my druid turn into a howling butt sniffer because I ran over a toad in the road.

IMO I like the fantasy RPG of the Visage to Drakthir when entering combat form or jumping high to do paragliding.
However seeing how we don’t really “fly” or we don’t turn into full dragon form, Evoker being a possible class in the future when subs (I’m joking but you know it might happend! lol 
) go down again, I see no problem and it be great if they already added the animations for the spells in Visage and humanoid form… opening the possibility for other races at some point if Blizz so choses.
Also I have to agree with some of the comments in this post… all the friends I play with would role Evoker in a heartbeat if they could stay in Visage form… they really dislike the androgynous lizard form they currently have. They do however LOVE the class and how it plays! Which is a bit ironic in a way… but I get it, its a matter of visual preference.

My guess is that once classes other than Evoker are open to Dracthyr, they will be able to stay in their visage form. Since other class abilities don’t require the draconic form animations, there should be no reason a player will be forced out of visage form.

Can’t imagine they would as the team could be slandered for copying the Au Ra from Final Fantasy. 
They still have animations in visage form, though it is mostly just your typical casting animations. You can see them easily enough if you enter combat and the dragon model hasn’t loaded yet.
They should add human form and other races too
