Permanent Servers and Ladder Reset Servers for Classic WoW

For example, all servers on release stay permanent forever, but at the 1.5 year mark, they start releasing ladder servers. Ladder servers go through all the content phases within 1.5 years and then they reset. During the 1 week of downtime in-between Ladder resets, you get to choose which ladder chars you want to be moved to a permanent server and delete the rest if u have to. This way you can always just chill and play on a permanent server if you’re not up for a ladder reset server on the next go around. On Ladder servers, BG’s and the Honor System are active right off the bat.

Obviously, certain rules will be in place such as PvE ladder chars are unable to be moved to permanent PvP realms… etc.

Let us know what you guys think about this. This is to keep both parties of the game happy. The FRESH seekers and the Permanent homies. Need both to keep the game alive for the decades to come.

Ppl don’t quit old servers bcuz of fresh servers. They quit bcuz around 2 years in they get bored… gl keeping the game alive without fresh servers.

Thank you for reading,

That’s what I said.

…at the 1.5 year mark, they start releasing ladder servers.

OK, I guess it was this part that was unclear:

The part about moving characters. That was confusing.

I reworded it a bit. Should be easier to understand now

Ah I get it now, thanks. I feel kind of dumb.

All good. This is a billion dollar idea right here.

Good luck, I posted this same idea on reddit and was nearly crucified for talking about it.

Eh, that’s like a slap on the wrist here.

Similar to D2 lod servers.

Neat idea, but won’t happen till Blizzard knows there will actually be people playing 2-3 years later.

I and many others will not. As soon as Kelly dies, so does my desire to play the game.

Jeez, what have we been doing the past decade on pservers… What was the point of all this? Why is Blizz making classic WoW just to have it die 3 years in… WE NEED LADDER RESET SERVERS.

Here’s an even simpler solution: Just don’t shut it down. Stick with what they said during the interviews after the announcement about not giving a damn how many players end up playing it permanently.

It’s a museum, not a proper game release.

We don’t need ladder reset servers. You just want ladder reset servers. Blizzard shouldn’t be taking this many pages out of the private server playbook for their product.

All of those against Fresh servers are going to see how wrong they all are a couple years in. Even in Museums they clean up and add new pieces.

I don’t see any negatives to one or two optional servers like this. In fact, I made a thread suggesting the very thing long ago on this forum.

My only slight concerns would be characters transferring off to permanent Classic servers. That could be an unexpected, significant impact on the economy, on the raid progression, on the pvp scene, etc.

A very good and needed impact I must say.

other games have used this and are successful. PoE does come to mind or any other game with seasons or a ladder. wow could easily use some type of reward system could be used to show that you did well that league. just to be safe rewards such as mounts or anything that doesn’t affect gear except appearance.

id join a ladder server like this to see where i am plus its sweet running through old content.

Good idea.

I know private servers had pvp system at launch, but why have BG’s and Honor system at the start? What if people want to re-experience the bloodbath during phase 2?

But its good thing we are getting Classic and not some private server copy.
