Or just say nothing and perma ban all account that bought gold in era, sod, or fresh.
If they want it back, it is $1000 restore fee per character - can make up for some of the lost subs from the mass ban

If they permaban gold buyers then they’re permabanning their cash shop buyers.

Actually…it was era/tbc the last time that kind of had an issue.
Streamers were getting their hard cut offs mid stream. So that is why that ban wave was rolled back so much. We knew what the streamers were doing. they were recording it.
Some nitwit, since totally not automated, said why yes banning streamers like asmongold would end well. Spoiler…it didn’t.
When he doesn’t need to RMT. his groupies give straight to the stream payment section lol. I have issues with the dude. But he is not dumb enough to risk his million dollar setup for RMT.
that and cheating is about the fastest way for a streamer to fall from grace real fast.

Okay sounds good. We do perma ban, but they can appeal for 6 months if they write a strongly worded essay apologizing for breaking ToS and explaining what they’ve learned. (Minimum 5000 words)

Can’t do long term penalties for gold buyers. They don’t want to lose 1/3rd of the classic player base.

This person has it figured out.
It’s too profitable for Blizz to continue looking the other way and acting like they just can’t seem to get a handle on that pesky RMT market.
Quite similar to Valve about CS:GO loot-crate gambling.
The solution is a gold cap.
If it was my server I’d buy a small amount of gold off one of these sellers
Next ban them
Check their mail/ah logs to find everyone buying from them and perma ban their customers also
Repeat.
