Perception broken?

How does perception is supposed to work? My finess is at 12%, my perception is at 23% but i always see finess procs, never ever seen perception procs. Why?

Sounds like you aren’t being perceptive.

so from what I understand, perception kinda sucks this expansion.
It will only have the chance to take effect if a rare material (nullstone) actually drops.

So you have what, a 1% chance of a nullstone from a node, and then a 23% chance of perception proccing a double material when that 1% drop-rate material does drop.

So you probably only have a 0.2% chance of a perception procc.

But honestly, even that seems far too high, its probably something closer to 0.05% chance of a perception procc.

And seems like null stones and null lotus are using the same hidden cap system that knowledge drops use. And so far it seems like you have to hit the cap for your knowledge items before the null items start to drop. Then they drop in a streak, like the knowledge items did, and then the rest of week is pretty bleak.

And you have to hit a pretty low perception threshold for this to start, but once you do it seems like any more perception is just a waste.

u have to perceive it bro

So finesse is the only way to go

Well that’s very deceptive.

The tooltip reads like Perception increases your chance to gather rare reagents. While Finesse says that it increases your chance to get more, which it does because I get more when Finesse procs.

So either you’re wrong or the tooltip for Perception should be rewritten. If you are right then Perception is essentially useless.

I believe I’m right, and the tooltip is deceptive. The only times you get a perception procc is when you get 2 null stones or verdant seeds instead of one.

Perception really is quite pitiful compared to finesse.

It’s terrible and should be redesigned.

Perception should be the flat chance to find null stones, +skill items, or higher ore ranks

Finesse should be the flat chance to find more of those, including default ore

I also have the same experience. I see finesse procs at what I think is a reasonable rate, and zero perception procs. If what people are saying above is correct, then perception is truly useless. This is such a terrible design and the tooltip so badly written. Looks like I’ve wasted a ton of gold on perception gear and enchants.

I don’t think ‘useless’ is the proper term for an effect that still results in receiving extra stuff occasionally. Unless we’re talking about fishing, where perception actually seems to do nothing at all and never results in finding bonus items.

The insanity they pulled with Null items is astounding. If they’re going to use these types of mats for things that people need to use frequently, then there needs to be nodes for them.

I’ve been herbing since Early Access. I’ve seen a total of 8 Null Lotus. How am I supposed to supply my guild with flasks when this is happening?

Was looking up some info and seems yea, Perception is worthless. Even with lower perception I’ve procced it albeit rarely to get 2 nullstones rather consistently. I switched to a Perception Sickle to see if I could get higher quality herbs, but there was no change. Other than far less mats. With a Finesse Sickle I’m ironically getting higher quality herbs as well as much more. Glad I saw this before I made my blue variant.
