Percentage of NEW R1s each season DISCUSSION

Are there any stats on NEW R1 players that achieve R1 each season?

I am curious to create a conversation and some stats behind how many R1 slots go to people who have multiple R1 titles and who play with multiple R1 people. I want to test a theory that a LARGE percentage of R1 players are those who have achieved it before and ONLY play with R1 people, perhaps this can be compared to the term “the rich get richer”

If it is a large percentage, do you think it’s an issue? Do you think R1 people don’t try new multi glad people out to see what they got? I mean they are NOT obligated to do so by ANY MEANS but I think it’s an interesting discussion, if R1 people only play with R1 people, then we create an R1 monopoly of sorts?

To end positively, do any R1s have any tips for multi glad players that want to push R1? Thanks!

it almost makes me wonder if blizzard actually intentionally outlines the meta with extremely oppressive specs solely to bring new blood into the upper echelons

like i honestly half believe that blizzard LETS comps like current kitty or ret/war or dhboom exist in such an obviously oppressive manner so that players that would otherwise or have otherwise been basically or barely 2400 would have the opportunity to get higher cr than they themselves could have ever intentionally dreamed of

like right now there’s tons of lower tier r1 players that have a couple titles earned solely because of the metas at the time that would very happily play with or add players that are barely 2700cr/lifetimexp exclusively because it’s worth investing in dhs/kyrian druids/warriors/rets right now

the best example of this currently would be demon hunter players
crotches and naxah are okay players that spam q dh and because of the current meta will/have likely had the opportunity to play with players very significantly better than them

blizzard basically artificially creates an opening for players based on their spec on a rotation

not to be mean to anyone but hasn’t croches been playing the game just as much during seasons where dh was just as oppressive? did i hallucinate seeing him play dhdk in bfa?

It’s 0.1% of the playerbase above 1000.

E.g. WODs3 had 256 ranks but I believe it was like 312 people because of duplicated rating sits, and asbur w/ his selfplays he did all season.

Comparably gladiator was 0.5%, and I believe that netted about 1300 glad mounts.

SL in comparison to all of this, we see prob 10-20k of those mounts, which obviously isn’t going to make out r1 easy to find out, but if I had to rough guess without counting the ladder, prob 130 spots. Where about 99% of these people are the OG crew of r1s, and that last 1% is new people who squeaked in the wins or got good queues to get that title. Or they play a meta comp like the ridiculous amount of ret wars we have that are no name trash players who will lock in r1.

There are absolutely significantly less older r1s, due to most of them quitting and moving on with their lives from this game, but there are still those, obvious names being like Cdew & Mes.
