People who will complain about nothing to do in DF

I do hope you don’t have your hopes smashed. People said the exact same thing about SL before it came out. And we all know how that turned out. :man_shrugging:

I need to add that you also have to keep in mind that there are different types of people who play this game, so what is good content for one group, might not be for another group.

For example, if you love to do M+ and only M+ (like my friend), then you could care less about the story/lore/questing in the game. And probably think people are just complainers because you’re enjoying what you are doing (this goes the other direction too).

I think the key is what they find to be relevant to the expansion in terms of what they like and don’t like doing. If all you like to do is raid and M+ then you’ll be entertained for a long while, yet shadowlands had really long seasons which made that dull after a while.

Then if you have a player that like to only PvP you’ll hit an eventual skill ceiling which you may break through a little. Yet you’ll eventually run into the pro players who pretty much play the game in a totally different way and means their exceedingly hard to beat as a non pro player. Which then emana eventually the only thing you can do is make an alt or just stop PvPing if you don’t want to lose your CR level and bracket.

Then finally you have mount and achievement collectors, that seem to be entertained the longest, until they get everything they want, burn out due to grinds or get bored with the grinds. Heck they could even simply be waiting for a specific component or rare for an achievement or mount to spawn for weeks on end. Which means eventually they can become bored too with the game.

So I don’t think it’s necessarily people should move on, it’s a case of things do become stale eventually to everyone. In which it all depends upon what they like doing, what level their playing at, and how many alts their willing to make or have.

Personally I haven’t kept an alt since BFA due to all the gearing changes and lack of time. Yet I also play at a high level which means I have to burn through content quickly to get ready for the new raid season and M+ season to play at the level I want to. I think this expansion I’ll finally make an alt, yet I’m not sure what kind of alt yet TBH.

Anywho for a TL;DR: it all comes down to what people do and do not like to do with the game.

I must’ve missed those posts. I saw a lot of “pull the ripcord” posts though. Most people on here knew that SL was going to struggle due to covenant restrictions, torghast grind and the maw being terrible. We don’t have that going into DF, there’s not much to complain about.

People were excited about SL, they just weren’t excited about the covenant abilities being locked like they were. That’s why the “pull the ripcord” came about… not that they pulled any ripcord until people started leaving in droves.

4 dungeons at launch
Flying being sold as a new expansion feature
Professions turned into a huge grind
New race/class is meh at best ( dps spec bad healing spec decent no tank spec)
Talent system “rEvAmP” ( Some classes better than others)
No improved class design (Sadly most of the class still have their simple rotation)
New UI is a dumpster fire ( LOL )
Overall for me the feeling is meh… I’ll stick to classic unless the reviews are absolutely amazing… Sadly I was one of the ones who thought SL was gonna be god lulz

For sure, I’m sure many people were. Many others also saw that SL was going to be another bad, or at least deeply flawed, expansion. I’m very skeptical of WoW expansions but DF isn’t throwing up any red flags on launch.

yeah…this has my chars wanting to go…

prove myself? are you bad wording kidding me.

I am the mall walking champion hero commander who has saved 2 draenors, azeroth several times and the entire known universe from being recreated by the Jailor.

We should not be proving ourselves to no one at this point. they should be proving themselves…to us.

This mechanic has run its course really. its now kind of…stupid. especially with the dragon folk.

my dudes… you called me. so clearly you know just who the hell I am.

yep. this is why when the breaks come (they always do) I go back to sp games lol.

even borderlands will at least change up lines for some chars for npc’s. Jack in the pre-sql is truly thrilled if you roll fragtrap. he will flirt with nisha. Lilith recognizes fellow sirens…and so on.

now its same quests, again. but a line or 2 change makes for fun discoveries.

same for say some fallouts. The idiot run! make int the dump stat and be rock stupid. and watch the new lines come in.

It’s good to hear every side and give credence to true criticism.

It’s really not any different than reputations have been in the past.

You fill up a bar by doing boring content, get rewards.

Renown was only a problem in Shadowlands because it was covenant locked, there was no catch up at first, and renown was required for several player power increases like PVP item levels and conduits. With the renown system they’re using as replacements for reps now, you automatically get a special buff that increases the speed that alts gain renown by 100% when you get it with a main.

No, they already listened to the people who said they had nothing to do, and it sucked. Let’s try not doing that for a little bit instead.

Also the rewards are like, cosmetics, mounts, and fun things like upgrading your ability to do fishing quests better for the Tuskarr. I think maybe I saw gear as a reward but I’m not sure, it might just have been cosmetics. And it definitely wasn’t super high ilvl gear I’m sure.

The fun thing is, even if Covenant locking and Covenant player power was a really obvious problem to everyone in the world, there were still dozens of threads on the forums filled with people saying that Covenants were fine and there was nothing wrong with them at all.

I loved WoD because I could raid log. I leveled up so many classes that expansion and ran them all through raids because I wasn’t bogged down by dailies and weeklies. That’s my ideal expansion. I like only having to spend a few hours a week playing the game on one character. It opens up the rest of the week for alts, other games and/or hobbies.

I feel alone in thinking that the prospect I’ll find myself with nothing to do for the week is actually a good thing.

Preemptive complaining. Not cool, Flower. Not cool. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Most of the time when you see people whining about nothing to do they haven’t done any endgame content above LFR and heroic dungeons.

If there is nothing to do in DF – there will be more time for people to come to the forums and both complain about not having anything to do and complain about people complaining about having nothing to do.

drive more players away

And let’s not forget you had to do content you hated in order to do content you enjoyed. A good example is needing to grind PvE covenant renown in order to level your basic honor set of PvP gear.

Covenant abilities were needed for all forms of content, yet Blizzard decided to have them randomly drop. And on top of randomly dropping, there were higher tiers for those covenant abilities you needed to level. They should have simply given us a covenant currency to purchase the covenants we wanted, and the currency could have been attained in any content you chose to do. The harder content would obviously give more currency.

The random covenant upgrade drops and the mandatory PvE renown grind needed to level PvP gear were the main reasons I quit. I also hated spending so much time flying from one zone to the other. We always had to make a pit stop at oribis which annoyed me.

My biggest concern about DF is the fact that none of the information I’ve seen or have had access to discuss actual story/game play (besides raiding and doing M+ in old dated content). In the past I’ve at least felt some emotion when seeing the trailers, but there was nothing to feel excited about… well… except for the fact that again, there is an island that no one noticed or ran into before.
