The abandon system is hot garbage. I feel like it’s mere existence causes peoples brains to break and they just give up the second one pull goes poorly. Like brother, we’re not doing 20s here, we can recover from a single wipe that we didn’t use lust on.
It doesn’t stop even leavers, they just troll until people vote yes, which TBH is a much worse experience.
I can agree with this. The vagueness has really disrupted the way people think about M+ pugs
For some it creates fear, so they will finish a key no matter the circumstances to avoid the mark…despite it not being to their benefit
For others, it has given them permission to try to abandon a key as soon as there is a minor hiccup
But in reality, the system doesn’t affect your average player, and they could continue playing the way they always have without repercussions
Personally I hate vague systems like this that are intentionally designed to force compliance by creating fear of punishment without clearly explaining the rules
Which was exactly the predictable problem with this whole system.
I’d rather someone have the stones to leave, it’s bad to have players think they’re gonna get penalized even if they are nowhere close to getting the mark.
The one case I’ve had this season of a non-quitting quitter did reveal a small nugget of unexpected benefit: Someone who is too chicken to bail may re-evaluate their ragequit and whether it’s worth still doing that after an abandon vote fails. Eventually he did rejoin the group since there was only one trash pack + boss left, and it was still a +10 in everyone’s vault.
Now, in that same situation would he have simply left before? No way to know. Is the possibility of sabotage larger than the possibility of changing their mind? Also no way to know. In my case, both happened in the same run.
Every time someone makes a thread like this, they dont seem to realize that the people trolling after a failed abandon vote would have just left the key in previous seasons. So the end result is exactly the same.
However, with this system we now get to report them for gameplay sabotage so if they keep it up they will get actioned.
Dota punishment system has a huge problem where anytime someone can start griefing and theres nothing you can do except wait till the match ends. Sure you can report but there were situations where a player would start it before the match even started and you were forced to play a 40-min match that was already lost… and if you went AFK the system would flag you as a deserter, this situation was happening very often and eventually I quit for good. 100% would rather have people leaving keys for whatever stupid reason than having to deal with that system here.
10’s are pretty easy and reward mythic vault. Where’s the line? Easy content can reward mythic track, but not really easy content? The crazy thing is that heroic raid doesn’t reward mythic vault. Clearing the raid on heroic is less rewarding than failing to time a 10 Dawnbreaker.
Had a shaman do this in a 13 DB some weeks ago.
We were on track with percent and about on the second boss, wiped, and instead of getting back in he just went “afk” and started an abandon vote. None of us realized he’d just given up like that, so we inevitably wipe because he was the healer.
Would have preferred if he’d just left honestly, I was never in favor of this system to begin with.
Didn’t happen in the +12 I ran last night. Instead we got to the last boss and when the tank couldn’t handle it a DPS called out the healer. Then for some reason instead of just abandoning, the tank left the group…then got reinvited. Then they kicked the healer from the group. I guess thinking it might give him a mark?
But the timer had just expired anyhow, we were on the last boss, so instead of voting to abandon earlier they just killed the chance of completing after the timer ran out.
Strangest run I’ve had so far this season.
Regardless, this system has just been the trolling tool of the season. All around a net negative for keys.
