Who cares?

I’d imagine more people play/have played without these things than the alternative.

I think my setup is far superior to an uncustomized WoW but I’m willing to bet that most people just hop on and play.

It will amaze you what some people can learn to do, and do at a high level.

I’ve been playing the game 10+ years. One of the five most talented players I’ve ever met, was almost a pure clicker. I keep hearing how it isn’t possible.

Except it was.

So long as they’re not holding the group back … who cares?

I don’t use: Keybinds, Macros, or Addons because I don’t need them for anything. I play the game just fine and have no need to “improve” my game play.

I click because it works for me.

Why not? :man_shrugging:

Because I like playing the game as it is.

If I didn’t, I would use them.

And the last thing I need is the game being made any simpler and easier as I am already very disappointed in how dull gameplay is due to scaling.

I did download and use Quest Completist to find a quest in a questline I had abandoned and then tried to come back to, but then disabled it right after.

So I am not against them, I just don’t find them necessary for my play.

Played with a mage who had one hand, he was great at the class. One of the best mages we had in our guild.

I play WoW mainly on my desktop, but I also play on a laptop, AND I sometimes go over to my friend’s house and have, effectively, a LAN party (he has a room with 8-9 PCs all set up for group gaming).

I found it was SOOOOO much easier to just get used to the default WoW interface, than to have EXACTLY what I wanted on my desktop, some mix of stuff on the laptop, and nothing really what I wanted at my friend’s house. Once you become a creature of habit to “I GOTTA HAVE MY SETUP!!!11”, everything else feels wrong,or annoying, or whatever negative connotation.

I solved all of that by just using the default interface.

I will say-- there ARE TIMES and situations that I’ll create a macro, or set something specific up, but it’s definitely a one-off.

If you do more than just fly around and look at the terrain (in other words: ANYTHING), I think you’re only doing yourself a disservice to not use DBM and a Coordinates addon. After that, people REALLLLLLLLY get carried away with being special little snowflakes with their custom UIs. The default UI is fine-- people are just idiots.

Keybinding is useful but largely overrated. If something is OFF the GCD, then yes-- you HAVE to have a keybind for it because you can’t clicky two things at the same time.

But for all of the stuff that is on the GCD (99% of things), I can click an ability, mouse over to my other monitor and select iTunes, choose a new song, change the volume, update the YouTube tab to see what’s new it recommends… and then mouse back to WoW and STILL be waiting to click the next ability. It’s an ETERNITY. The stigma against clicking is lost on a game with an almost 2 second GCD.

But I still can’t believe this fifteen year old game STILL DOESN’T HAVE COORDINATES!!!

Why would they bother when the community took care of that 15 years ago?

Hello haste! If your GCD isn’t closer to 1 second, what have you been doing?

Blizzard rule #1: Find what’s great in other games, and bring it into WoW.

Blizzard rule #2: Find what’s good in addons for WoW, and bring it into the official game.

Have you ever been in a new zone with a new set of Vignette mobs?? It’s nothing but luddites crying out “where is 43, 57?? I don’t have a coord mod!!1111”

It’s ridiculous.

And adding haste just means I have less time to tab out and get a taco before the freaking GCD expires. You’re missing the point.

I only play vanilla Skyrim.

How does that make you feel, OP?

The real question here is…

WHY NOT

The only addon that really makes the difference for me is Weak Auras, because it is easier for me to keep track of my cooldowns and resources if they are closer to the center of the screen.

O was using ELVUI for a custom UI, but guess what, the default interface is better. Now I stopped using ELVUI.

I can’t play without keybinds. I use a lot of them.

And some macros are nice to use too.

What is important in the end is to feel confortable the way you play the game.

Because I don’t play how YOU want me to, I play how I WANT to.

Good enough reason for you?

Basically, I feel it’s up to the person as to how they wish to play, and honestly I don’t care.

However for your edification (lol) I have keybinds and use mouse to turn. I don’t have macros for 2 reasons:

  1. I have never been able to get them to work, I am not good at the coding.
  2. I probably wouldn’t use them much anyway as I like to choose what I’m going to use. I don’t always have a total standard 123. I may choose to do 14243. Or something… I have a razer Naga mouse and the buttons are right there to press.

Each encounter if more than a simple shot or two I like to make special… That guy over there works best with a 3-1-2. This one over here is a 1-2-4… That type of thing. I like to think. I like to use my mind to choose what ability I’m going to go with.

I usually use minimal addons, but since coming back this month after a year break, I have loaded up on all the bells and whistles of addons.

It’s great, and I love how it looks.

HOWEVER, I dread how it will be to become accustomed to SL when they all break and I have to do it all over again, every patch.

The beauty of a minimalistic approach to addons is that when they break them, or when patches hit, you don’t have to adjust. You are already adjusted.

I mainly play a BM Hunter, I’ve no need for addons, macros or keybinds to afk through WoW.

Not comfortable doing it at all.

I’ll use macros for targetting or things like that. Or simple silly maroes for fun.

I really only use addons like deadly boss mods, map cords, and decursive.

I use the q, w, s, e for movement with my mouse. And click to cast spells. So i position the abilities on my bars with that in mind.

I tend to fo fine ingame. This wxpac i gave up on it. But normally i would be raiding.
