What am i supposed to do in cases like this? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/786266013078519812/807039281553604628/65_applicants.png
I got 65 applicants for a De Other Side +15 dungeon, there was 1 tank, 4 healers and 60 DPS. Right of the bat, the tank and the healer were not getting an invite because i tank and i mostly play with a buddy that heals, so yeah 5 players had no chance.
Then we get the amount of 60 DPS!!! There is only spot for 3, there’s just WAY MORE that gonna get rejected that ones that gonna get invited.
And this what i don’t understand about the people that complain about that, specially DPS players. Why you guys take it so personal when you get declined? You do realize there are too many of you and yet it seems that people get offended when they don’t get an invite to a dungeon.
So how in that case i could pick 3 DPS out of 60 without the rest no getting mad for not being invited?

Its not your responsibility, it’s Blizzards to make content that doesn’t bring out the need for all these measuring sticks just to get into content. People who are complaining about being declined to the people who are declining are dumb and need to focus their attention at blizzard.

Why didnt you message each of the 60 DPS and tell them you are sorry, you are full, but you will try to rotate all of them in in different groups as soon as you can? Are you even trying?

you have to bring all of them or you’re a filthy elitist. sorry, i don’t make the rules

this just illustrates how ridiculous the people are who want you to personally interview each one.

what does that have to do with the fact that 60 dps applied for 3 slots?

The truth is people need to stop being afraid to start their own groups, especially for m+.
It’s not hard and would help alleviate this exact problem

There would be the opposite problem, too many groups not enough tanks/healers to fill them and the dps players who started them would wait forever.

and 1/2 or more of those DPS could tank or heal and drop that number to a whole lot less easily.
But alas it’s all about big numbers.

I think elitism and the fact there’s a disproportionate number of dps in relation to tanks and healers are two different topics. They do get mixed up as people who play non op specs/classes probably get invited (even) less and blame it on elitism/bias towards their spec/class but they’re really two separate topics that intertwine in certain places.
Like I don’t know, say I tried to get into pugs for keys, I think the first couple declines I’d feel like it’s whatever/bad luck, the next couple of times I’d blame it on my raiderio, then at some point on the fact I don’t play fire. I probably still wouldn’t ascribe that to elitism but others would.

Wow, that’s a bunch! I wish I can take all 70 into the dungeon even though it is tuned for 5
I’d like to think it would be easier but I know that with deaths being 5 seconds each, the timer might not be so friendly!
You think people don’t heal or tank because they want to see big numbers?
I think it’s because we’ve all heard or seen a tank rage at the healer (allegedly) being horrible, we’ve all seen dps and healer losing it whenever a tank loses aggro and it results in a wipe and dps is always the most forgiving role because there’s two more dps and that healer that might save your sorry behind and you are usually less likely to single-handedly cause a wipe even if you majorly eff up. I think people choose dps over healing or tanking because tank dies - wipe, healer dies - wipe is a way more common scenario than “mage didn’t get out of bad stuff again - wipe” - can happen in the right (wrong?) circumstances of course, but it’s way less likely. The one mistake you can make as dps that will have everyone get mad and makes a wipe through your actions alone more likely is pulling stuff you shouldn’t have (or just before the tank does unless you planned to do that). I don’t want to heal because, even though I’ve never really gotten mad at a healer, I constantly see people get mad at them for nothing or nothing big and I don’t want to tank cause even just getting to a point where I trust in my own tanking skills sounds like a horrible journey filled with nothing but getting insulted in normals while trying to learn tanking - and I already get too anxious in dungeons as it is, as dps
I think I would enjoy healing and I could enjoy tanking - if I already knew how to do it properly. Unfortunately, you have to learn stuff, and at some point you have to practice in instances - and I haven’t seen any patience with players in this game since I came back to it last March

I know you are being sarcastic (right?) but there’s people in this forum that genuinely believe that or at least “interview them”, imagine sending message to 60 players it would take me longer that the dungeon.

I see your point. And I don’t think it’s elitist not being able to invite 60 people to a 20/30 person Raid or 5-person group, lol. I guess the Custom Group system needs some work?

But how do you change it? In what way would you change it so you don’t get 60+ applicants?
For the solution is more people need to start their own groups tbh.

I would say that means other people make tanking or healing so stressful that they rather go as dps…

a lot of people just don’t want to tank or heal. which is fine. i’ve done all 3 at heroic raid level or higher and i happen to prefer dps. but i also don’t complain about it taking a while to find a group if i do choose to play dps for any given content.

The game tells you if you’ve been declined by the group leader or if the group was just full; it’s easy for some to take offense if they get declined right away, or after many attempts to join a group.
