I’ve been away from WoW for the past two expansions, so this is still coming as news to me. I can’t imagine why anyone would pay for Mythic+ carries. Raiding is different, since most people don’t have the time to find a guild and commit themselves to a raiding schedule, but Mythic+???
Can people really not make it to 2500 by themselves? I feel like this is easily doable, even in a pug full of 5 random people. Unlike raiding, it can be on your own time basically any hour of any day of the week. Are people really shelling out hundreds of dollars for something that can be done with just basic understanding of game mechanics?
I’m gonna guess you don’t pug much.

People pay for everything in this game either with gold or cash.
Rbg carries, toon boosting, raid AOTC, M+ KSM, Arena rating.
Literally everything

casuals always have an excuse.
They defend their weakness with great strength.

Paying for a mythic+ carry is crazy to me. I don’t care what anyone’s excuse is, it’s ridiculous. Gaining all 15s isn’t that hard, if you just do a 15 every day then you can get it in no time. I understand the time struggle and even pugs, but you shouldn’t resort to buying a carry. But hey you know what, it’s their gold who cares. I don’t agree with it but whatever.
I’ve only ever pugged. I have never once grouped with more than 1 person at the most.
You’re over here complaining about people buying carries while you could be selling them and making bank.
You got the wrong approach my guy.

Yes, it’s stupid, but it’s a game. It’s neither an indication of weakness nor strength. Only ones that get upset are people who have nothing going on in life outside of WoW.
There’s larger core issues in WoW, and compeitive games, than “Omg someone bought KSM/CE/AOTC/Glad.”
There are people who paid hundreds of dollars just so they could brag about a digital mount.
There are a lot of different types of people in this world

Here’s the thing, I don’t care if people buy carries. But if you’re applying to a 20+ after buying a carry and not understanding the mechanics then it’s a problem for everyone in that group. I understand the desperation for achievement and whatever else or even wanting the mount. Other than that I agree.

Most people buying 20s are mythic raiders who were asked to swap for raid and want to quickly catch up on gear, because normally the people selling carries will funnel you whatever gear you need.
You also have people who want portals for quality of life.
There is a demand for a reason.

As a healer, I completely understand why people pay for carries. I’m currently at the 16-17 range and I’ve ran into a massive wall regarding how many mechanics people just flat out fail. One shots or near one shots are a massive issue in pugs at this range, I’ve heavily considered paying for some carries to get my io over the hump so I can get in with people that follow mechanics more.
Yeah, I agree. There have been times when I’ve just wanted to give up because people don’t understand the mechanics. But I’m glad I didn’t. I like the blood, sweat, and tears.

How much pugging have you done on your own?
Buying my way into anything in this game would feel like I was paying to not play, pure and simple. But then I’m the type who is happy if all my gear is purple, regardless of how good it actually is or where it comes from. I am probably not the audience, it is clearly over my head.
Even a mount. Big deal, a mount. I’ve bought a few on the cash shop over the years when they’re on sale for 12 bucks but I don’t even do that much anymore. If I buy a token it’s usually something like more heirlooms need upgraded and I don’t want to grind out the gold.
People are welcome to their difficult content, frankly if I paid my way into it without the actual playing of it I would feel like a fraud, kind of.
Of course, not everyone has been playing wow for 20 years. What’s easy to you doesn’t mean it’s easy to everyone.

I have never bought a boost.
M+ is a VERY polarizing gamemode. Some people absolutely hate it, but since there are only 2 ways of progressing at endgame if you want to progress your character you pretty much have to do it. A timer alone can cause certain people a lot of anxiety and then add on the toxicity of certain players, potential to brick a key on a single mistake, and the level of stress that higher keys bring, a lot people don’t enjoy doing it. I know I certainly limit my high key runs to push keys only and do as few as possible, but the new awful upgrade system has destroyed how I like to play.
Now think of all the time you spend gearing up, looking for groups, and running keys. Say what? At least 80 hours at a minimum to hit 2500 pugging? Well at $10 an hour that’s $800 you could make working. Considering Runs were ~$20 each(not sure current gold pricing), that’s only $320. So you could spend 32 hours working and get 2500 in 16 runs. You spend less time doing an activity you hate and if you work the rest of that 80 hours you have enough money to buy next seasons runs. Even at double the price it’s more efficient. If people make more than $10 an hour it’s even more efficient to work than actually do M+. If you enjoy M+ then obviously the value proposition is different, but if you hate M+ and you hate work then it’s more efficient to work. If you hate M+ more than work then that just makes it far more efficient to buy a carry.
The fact that M+ carries are so prevalent and people are literally paying money to skip that content should be a giant red flag that maybe we need another gamemode at endgame that is actually fun for those that want a chill experience and not a toxic min/max GO GO GO experience. The sad thing is that the carried players count toward the statistics of M+, so Blizzard sees 20% of people are engaged with M+ and continues on as is, when it might actually be more like 10% and 10% carries(Made up numbers for the point).
