Simply put, I’d rather not rely simply on “because that’s how it was, and it wasn’t awful”. I have my own thoughts on each, but I’d like to hear from others, too.

Having a singular rune type really has been problematic for Frost only really, which stems mostly from it not having a ton of builder abilities to begin with going into Legion.

Anything that boils down to “return to the old rune system” to use abilities and is not just for thematic reasons is taking a huge step back in class design. Personally, I’d rather just have everything DKs have now than 2/2/2 rune types. If I wanted to deal with that headache I’d just play classic.
