People on Netherwind, and probably lots of other realms, are flyhacking in order to mine RTVs from underneath the world. You can’t see them or click them to report them, and the veins disappear so quickly a lot of the time that you can’t even tell it’s happening.
With not that much time to prepare for Naxxramas and the price of arcane crystals skyrocketing, this problem is kind of infuriating, as it’s depriving actual players of the ability to even make enough gold to prepare.
I can’t use the in-game report function because I can’t click on the characters doing the mining, so I emailed hacks@blizzard.com and I’m posting here.
edit: A few more details; it seems to usually be a level 3 that is actually doing the mining, which means they’ve hacked their way to being able to mine RTVs at level 3. They teleport around, appear to be in a swimming animation between mining.

Tuesday’s downtime supposedly fixed a lot of the flyhacking and teleporting exploits.
Did you see the underground mining after that?
I’d rather they fix the nodes spawning under the ground too.

The nodes are actually underground?
I thought the miners were underground, but close enough to the surface to mine regular nodes.

Seems like it didn’t because I’m seeing people talking about it happening for herbs too still. Did blizz say they fixed it?
No, Blizzard didn’t say anything. They never say anything. Not even, “Hi. How ya’ll doin’?”
There was some chatter among the fly hackers that their hack had been busted. They didn’t get banned, however.
Yeah…
It’s like watching a couple mentally challenged cats trying to put a litter box together or something.

Any recent videos of this by chance?
The only ‘evidence’ we’ve seen posted about blizzard fixing fly hacking and teleporting is 1 person shared a low quality cropped screen shot of 3 people talking and saying teleporting wasn’t working. Not exactly concrete proof. I wouldn’t be surprised if it hadn’t been fixed at all, especially with how many people are still posting saying they’re still seeing it happen.
I first noticed and reported the player doing this two nights ago, and he still isn’t banned. He’s been mining about 18 hours a day, so it’s either completely automated or a shared account. To see evidence of this yourself, just /who Silithus, look for underleveled players (they do all seem to be level 3), and bring a friend who can use Track Humanoids. You can watch them teleport in and out while the ore disappears.

Will this continue to be an issue in TBC?

Will Bobby Kottick still be the CEO of Activision?
Then yes.
I saw a level 1 Alliance player “Following” a 38 Horde player underground in Arathi Highlands last week. I could target the human but not attack him and it looked like he was using the /follow command but of course I couldn’t tell. When I addressed the Horde player, both players disappeared, sooo yeah. I tried to find other discussion about this topic but couldn’t find anything yet. I don’t know what the level 1 was doing at all considering he couldn’t mine the Mithril.
This is still happening. Blizzard, please ban these bots faster. It took over a week to ban the first bot I reported, and this one showed up less than 24 hours later.

Ahahahahah I was skeptical about this when you posted, but that screenshot… how did they drop the ball so hard with Classic? How is this hack even POSSIBLE? Aren’t there like server-side checks for things like this? Seems like only a matter of time before hackers start spawning Naxx loot/Scarab Lord mounts out of thin air and selling the accounts.
Yeah I had a guildie have block lotus disappear right in front of his eyes.
So many people playing classic and Blizzard wont hire game masters. They could do that and help the situation a heap.
I hope they have GMs for TBC because if they don’t I think the hackers will become even more emboldened.

I have identified a spot where I can sometimes see characters idling under the floor in a way that only someone who is exploiting terrain can accomplish. They are always targeting a certain NPC who I believe they are using to sell dungeon loot and repair. My suspicion is that they exploiting the terrain of the dungeon just as much as they are this building.
I have so far reported two characters. Would rather not say in this thread where or it might tip them off and get them a little smarter. But I will say that depending on the race of the character I sometimes have to turn on all friendly nameplates to even know that they are there under the floor.
This guy still isn’t banned and I reported him over four days ago. Why does this take so long to ban? Every day this guy is up he’s causing damage.
