I’ll need to do this and that in other to find groups.
If I don’t do that I can’t find groups
The elitist min-maxers are ruining the game
You know a easy way to fix that and also improve, in most cases, you time while playing the game? Like minded people to assist you doing what you want.
Find a guild that matches your playstyle and time you usually play and most of the concerns about the “Hows” will be solved, and most likely than not you’ll also end up doing things you usually didn’t do because one of your guild mates had a “revelation” and now he “MUST” do something.
So the only M+ or only Raids or only PVP’s maybe change, you might not call it your primary form of enjoyment but you might end up liking it a bit more!
It may take time to find one, but it’s worthwhile!
They want to queue for everything from capital cities to be automatically sorted into groups of strangers they literally don’t interact with. It’s like this millenial / zoomer social anxiety creeping into game design.
You will get responses stating that any guild they have been in has been
Toxic
Filled with cliques
Doesn’t let me raid, pvp, mythic, ect. With them
Raids when I can’t
No one talks
I have been in about 4 guilds in my 10 years and all 4 have been good experiences. I never just join some trade chat spam guild. I research forums and reddit for a guild that fits my playstyle. They raid when I can raid. Their responses on their forum post usually speak about how good the guild is. Wowprogress shows an long term raid history so I know the guild won’t go anywhere soon. And then I talk to the officers and ask any questions I have
You may say that’s a lot of work. But this is my wow experience and I want it to be a good one.
It is really hard to find the right guild, though. Like I think I’ve lucked out, but I’ve been burned a lot in the past.
It’s a lot easier for some people - but if you’re trans, or Black, or a member of any marginalized group, finding a dedicated, open, and safe community can sometimes feel really daunting. There aren’t a ton of guilds that go out of their way to make their communities open to everyone.
And there are still a lot of times where I don’t really want to rely upon joining a community of folks. I just want to hop on a toon and run a dungeon without having to worry about a bunch of unnecessary barriers.
The answer to all of those is to find a better guild.
However the point that people fail to see sometimes when they switch around is the concept of common denominator. If practically everywhere you go you only find problems, then maybe just maybe you are the problem?
A lot of the time, the discomfort comes from “jokes” and attacks on other marginalized folks, not on me personally.
That’s kind of what I’m saying, when your discord is filled with slurs and hate and bigotry, it doesn’t matter if I’m stealth and they’re not personally targeting me.
Exactly for all of this. I don’t care what you identify as, just be friendly and I will do my best to reciprocate (personally I’m not the best at doing that first but don’t mind following w/e pace people set).
The people who complain the most about raiderio etc. ruining the community are the exact same people who refuse to join guilds and/or make friends. The community is not ruined by any stretch of the imagination—you just have to actually participate in it.
Would help having fewer servers and dead guilds. Players need a smaller “social sandbox” so that the critical mass for social interactions is more likely to occur.
