I got extremely bored and took my 2100 CR in 2s alt healer and decided to just queue up with 1600-1700 people. My rating made people about 100ish points higher than their CR, so it’s not like they were 2k, plus I lost some games immediately so I was already 2kish for the most of this.
Wow. Every game, at these lower ratings is full geared gladiators on alts. It is legit harder or equally as hard 2.2k+ right now. Why am I queueing into this guy ~https://check-pvp.fr/us/Tichondrius/Talibandzx at 1800 mmr with some full geared hpriest? This is just one example, I did about 13 games and each one had a current season gladiator as one of the partners, if not both. Just sad man.
No wonder arena participation is dead. No wonder new players/pve’rs don’t even want to go near pvp with a 50ft pole right now.

Lol my complaint has nothing to do with gear. It’s the fact that there are tons of high experienced players playing in the 1700-1900 bracket and lower. How can you disagree with that at all? Or even try to defend all the boosting and carrying going on?

Now try pushing 1800 without having someone that’s ilvl 226+ helping you. It’s not what I’d call a pleasant or fun experience, to say the least.

I’m actually beyond terrible at this game, I got my shadow priest 1400 and 1600 queing the worst yolo rbgs I could find while farming conquest points.
Upgraded my gear to 213, played with a 218 ele shaman and 220 resto shaman in 2s (mostly the resto shaman) and grinded out 1800 to upgrade my gear to 220, at almost no point did I feel like I lost simply because of my gear, was more because I played horribly (and still do)
Sure we faced a lot of people with 40k hp unbuffed, but they were perfectly capable of dying to my undergeared priest. Wasn’t abnormally hard, beat several boosters that are so far beyond my skill level it isn’t funny.
Bracket feels almost exactly the same as it did in BFA to me, other than the rating being so inflated it was given just for queing.
People need to stop reaching for excuses and just play.
We have a mediocre gearing system with no conquest catchup (which is beyond stupid), Nobody would blame you if you just didn’t want to do it, but if you want to play then just do it, nothing is keeping you from rating but yourself.

This is what putting rating requirements on pvp gear does. Everyone needs to get rating for their alts, people need carries to get geared, etc…
It’s Blizzards fault for implementing old-school elitist crap into their game which they had been moving more and more away from for multiple expansion now, then suddenly Shadowlands drops and BOOM we are back to the old stuff.

What if I’m intimidated by the 233 weapon and 226 gear, 10k hp more than me, and the ability to 100-0 me or my partner in a 3 second cc? Is that acceptable?

Played at 2050 tonight, literally all glad Alts it’s fkin miserable playing 2s… they need to institute apex type format they only play other glads

at 1600 you should not be fighting gladiators.
at 1600 you should not be fighting people with 226 ilvl
at 1600 you should not have to worry about “being intimidated by gladiators”
at 1600 you should be having fun and trying to get better, managing your positioning and cd rotations
you shouldn’t be trying to outplay 14+ year veterans who know every class inside and out

Ok I genuinely see issues with gold boosting but unless they’re playing their main class as an alt how is this in particular an issue
Most people are not as good on their alt classes as they are on their mains - this is even true for the amazing multiclassers in WoW at the highest level
Idk like if I log on my mage I’m way lower mmr/cr than my hunter because I’m not good at mage, idk how that should be an issue for my opponents if they play vs my mage when I’m better at hunter
But yeah, if you mean they’re playing alts of the same class that truly sucks, but not if it’s a new class for them

I just did this tonight on my paladin. 761 games this season, my first season doing pvp since MoP.
We hit 1800 after spending 4 queue sessions in the 1700’s. The number of times we fought a team without someone over 40k hp was in the single digits. My pally was 212, the monk I’m playing with is 218. Honestly gonna leave it parked till I finish upgrading to 220. The gear disadvantage is real. Needing to play 20% better than a current season duelists is a big ask.
