People already cheating in Plunderstorm

I’ve seen people recruiting others for “duos” yet they were in singles, and using discord to communicate. Blizzard better step up on this.

It was happening day one

Why are you surprised?

People been “gaming” the system since forever.

I heard people in duos are just healing and rezzing each other far out in the storm where no one can reach them.

That sounds like a big yikes.

I’m confused about how this is “cheating.” Making alliances in a free-for-all sounds like a solid strategy and at the end of the day, they will have to fight each other.

That’s just stacking the deck and I don’t think it’s technically cheating per Blizzard’s Terms of Service, Code of Conduct, nor Social Contract. I have seen screenshots and videos of players actually cheating in Plunderstorm, however, one such player flying and immune to damage inside the storm as well another with faster base movement speed.

I want to see actual videos of this happening because ressing someone is an insanely long cast time where you can’t take other actions or it cancels it. At absolute best, I could maybe see 1 topped off individual maybe getting the res off on a dead buddy who isn’t coming back at full health or with their heal off CD) to do what is being claimed.

I also don’t see this “solo/duo” nonsense as cheating. You mechanically aren’t teamed up and given all but 1 ability is AOE in nature, you would be working way harder to not hurt your teammate along with other obvious issues like XP/plunder not being shared or even spawning near enough to each other without one of you taking a long bird glide to the other leading to massive XP differentials and, of course, not being able to res your teammate if desired once dead…assuming you even manage to get queued together in the first place…like really just run duo and you’d probably dominate if you could pull off 2 solo queue acting as partners.

Edit - What I have seen and even quasi did one match was convince a fellow mid level to join me in my submission to the storm…after we took down a level 7 as level 5’s for his plunder first…but I accidently (truly) ended up killing my “partner” in the heat of the battle thinking it was the level 7 and the level 7, who was on deaths door, retreated and while I felt bad, I gobbled up the plunder and sacrificed my body to the storm gods.

Doubt blizz can do anything if folks are using an outside thing like Discord

No different than voice chat during a raid

They can. They wont. This event is mainly for the streamers. It is not for non streamers to play.

The whole “its to cater to streamers” thing is kinda silly bro.

That just sounds like you’re looking for someone to blame.

I haven’t seen it personally, just heard people belly aching about it in the plunderstorm forum. I think with the next set of PS changes, they are reducing the cast time of rez.

I’ve heard many claims including that people can start the match with powers and also somehow be level 10. Not just get level 10 quickly, but literally land and be level 10 and capable of nuking all the NPCs and players unfortunate to land with them.

What I’ve determined though is most people are just bad and by the time they manage to get level 2-3 get jumped by a level 6+ who lucked out and got the juicy start spots free and clear.

Heck I was in a match last night where I felt “I” had maybe cheated because I ended up reaching level 7 and ran into nothing but 3’s and 4’s (and a lone 2) while I traversed the entire west side of the map before finally running off with something like 1300ish plunder to be judged by the almighty stormlord. I did consider playing that battle through and going for first place, but it was late and I just wanted some quick matches.

Edit - And they ABSOLUTELY need to lower the res timer by at least half AND let the dead person accumulate XP/plunder so even if the dead guy comes back, he’s at least at the same level as his partner despite royally disadvantaged having no/junk abilities.

You gotta play using your battletag and not your own toon names. So as soon as I went in to play it and it had my btag there instead of my toon name I’m like na…this is very clearly 0% a Blizzard idea. This is the type of thing that Activision does with all their games. My btag is the same name that my main toon is and I do lots of PvP and PvE with that toon, but I like to change things up from time to time when I play in game. And forcing us to use just one single name that we cant even pick. I’m like…na.

No they can’t
Blizz has nothing to do with Discord it is its own company.

I can guarantee you 99.9% of people aren’t going to recognize you even if you were semi famous. Things are just too hectic and chaotic to actually take notice of a name in a crowd.

My btag is the same as this toon and I’m 38 or 39 now and I’m quite confident not a single person would recognize me or even pick know what model and basic design choices I picked for my plunder character.

I have to say, I have not once seen anyone cheating. Someone did follow me in stealth though. Not sure what that was about.

I heard from someone that a player in plunderstorm went to their house and kicked their dog.

they literally encouraged it in the beginning…

plus its a duo thing, not gonna hurt ya.

It’s times like this I’m glad my Battle.net is a generic name of a candy lol.

It’s not easily-recognizable as some of them are, I’ve seen folks with, what I assume are their actual, real names in there, from their Battle.net accounts.

Lots of “Matthew Smiths” and whatnot.
