Penalty for leaving Mythic+ dungeon early

There needs to be some sort of penalty system for players who leave a mythic+ dungeon before the timer expires. I understand the desire for getting the best possible result from the dungeon, but it seems as if people fail to realize that you get something for completing the dungeon, even if not on time. Bailing on a dungeon guarantees that those who stay will never finish, and doing so after putting 20+ minutes is just a waste of time for everyone.

The behavior of the community at large of “things didn’t go perfectly so I’m going to throw a tantrum and quit” is ruining the entire experience for everyone and is making me question whether or not to continue with PVE content and the game at large.

Or you could just make some friends and stop running content with randos.

no there does not… people are free to leave pre-made groups whenever they want for whatever reason they choose.

I’ll ask the same I’ve asked in the last thousand threads… what is the punishment and who exactly gets it?

Do you get it no matter when you leave? What if you wipe to the first boss 4 times it’s clear it isn’t happening.

Do you have to wait until the timer expires to leave?

Does only the first person to quit get the penalty.

What if the dungeon starts and the tank says “I’m going afk for an hour.” Do you have to stick around to avoid penalty?

I’ve never understood this request, because why would you force someone to play with you? Why would you want to be forced to play with someone else? It makes no sense.

There are a number of valid reasons why someone might leave a dungeon once it can’t be timed anymore. Generally if you set the objective to “Completion” then players will stick around, because that’s what they signed up for. Likewise, you can ask the group if they’ll stick around to finish it regardless of the timer before the key is used in the font of power.

The devs don’t need to police this player behavior, and players asking for such will probably regret it themselves down the line.

If there is, I also want a penalty for, and not limited to, not interrupting priority spells, pulling extra groups, taking avoidable damage, not being enchanted, gemmed, flasked and fed, etc.

You are not entitled to a single moment of that player’s time.

No, because I don’t want to be forced to stay in horrible groups. Good thing this only happened to me twice. In both cases it was clear from the beginning that that group would take more than 1 hour to complete that dungeon. Repair costs a lot of gold.

And some people don’t care about the loot, they just want to time and score. If they leave a group that obviously won’t be able to complete in time, they simply leave because it’s much faster and more practical to find another group and try again. If someone I invited leaves because my group is bad, I wouldn’t throw a tantrum or complain, because it’s the player’s right to stay or leave a group, we can’t force people to do what we want.

I would only be offended if someone trolled my key (e.g. leaving right after I started the key). I’m glad things like that never happened to me.

I believe that is not the majority of cases. I only saw people leaving when the group was really bad and had several wipes.

Yeah the people who act like every single run included a whiny quitter I have to assume the person asking is actually often the reason.

People pulling 50% the dps as everyone else, while not interrupting and also standing in fire… they want players to be forced to stay and carry them

I also have that impression.

It’s just as we thought. Parsing 0, parsing 2, parsing 14 isn’t going to get it done.

They wasted their time in a group that was unable to perform at a level they expected. What more do you want
