Penalties/suspension question

Hey just wondering if do bans or suspensions cause a complete lock to your bnet account where you cant play any game or are are they just game exclusive like if i was perma banned in WoW for arguments sake do i still get to play other blizzard titles? (odd question i know)

I think it’s game-specific for bans, not sure though since I don’t really play other Blizzard games besides WoW

Fair, mainly asking on behalf of a friend who thought it would be a smart idea to buy gold a while back and is worried regarding bans and if it extends to other blizzard titles

I think it depends on the severity of the incident that led to the ban.

Asking in the customer service forum will probably get you better answers than here.

Yeah he sent a ticket in to ask but i asked here anyway just to see other opinions. And yeah i’d imagine it would depend on the severity like if someone was legit hacking for example i feel that is alot different compared to his case of he bought gold a few times :dracthyr_shrug:

You aren’t going to be permanently banned from all blizzard titles for buying gold a couple of times at some point in the distant past.

It’s by account (not even battlenet). While they may ban an entire battlenet, it takes something pretty serious and/or consistent to do so.

Yeah i personally figured for an entire battlenet account to be banned it would have to be something pretty extreme or something and i dont think blizzard to full on battlenet bans often

As far as I am aware, you can just create a new WOW account on your battle.net and play with it. It requires its own subscription though. Now, if you’ve gotten all of the allowed WOW accounts banned (limit is 8), you will need to create a new Battle.net.

You won’t even get a permanent wow ban from buying gold a few times.

I mean. Is the friends account even banned on any level now?

nah its not banned right now but he has been growing increasingly worried as of late since obviously new expansion is on the horizon so i guess it lingers on the back of his head i suppose

How long ago did this happen?

i believe he said around 3-4ish months

they’re not gonna perma ban someone for buying gold once

yeah but issue is for him he did it twice which cant technically he get 2 bans back to back from those 2 times? or is it like one ban and then clean slate after ? not sure how it works personally

probably totally fine, and there’s nothing you can do about it unless you make a time machine, so don’t stress.

next time your friend /nudge nudge wants to buy gold, do it legit by buying a token.

I don’t recommend that. It wouldn’t take long for someone to say “your friend huh” and for things to spiral into the usual derailments.

wdym? realistically wouldn’t the blizzard cs person just say to read the tos if anything haha would be lucky to get a proper response

I bought gold on retail once post-token because i needed gold for raid consumables in 30 minutes not 3 hours and I just got a mail message from Blizz essentially saying “hey dont do that please”

Also gold buying was so common in classic that some guilds advised people to do it on x day so their temp ban would be over by raid day.

Point being, no one is getting perma banned over it.

thats good to hear then haha, but still in his case since he had bought gold twice, isn’t he under the risk of potentially getting 2 back to back bans like he could of been flagged for one of them and then after that suspension is over, X amount of time later hes cooked again from the other time prior to the previous suspension? not really sure how it works to people who did it X amount of times prior to a punishment, not sure if they are all treated into the 1 suspension or if its instance by instance
