Pearlescent Goblin Wave Shredder Cannot Be Used Underwater

As the title says. I am fairly certain this is the single, only mount in the game that cannot be used underwater. Very, very strange imho. I know it doesn’t matter so much but just thought I’d report it anyway.

I think it matters. It’s frustrating to be dismounted when you hit water and to not be able to mount back up on it while in water.

At a minimum, there is one other: the Red Flying Cloud. It’s possible the entire class of flying disc mounts are like this, although I haven’t tested.

This is nothing new and may be quite intentional, if (for example) the developers created this mount by reskinning an existing flying disc mount.

According to wowhead, the spell says

**Pearlescent Goblin Wave Shredder**

Increases ground speed by <ground speed>%. (When flying is available) Increases flight speed by <flying speed>%. (When swimming) Increases swim speed by <swimming speed>%. Surf's up!

Something definitely seems broken with this.

I’d just discovered the extra swim speed and was using the mount over a faster dragon. Looks awesome with a gnome in the touristy swimwear looking like Master Roshi. Stopped to do an underwater quest and couldn’t mount again.

At the very least the player needs to be able to mount when at the surface of water. Considering it’s a water themed mount, such a restriction is a massive oversight of design.

Just happened to think about this again today and test it, turns out it was fixed. Both the Pearlescent Goblin Wave Shredder and the Red Flying Cloud can now be ridden on and under water without dismounting you.

Neither the Pearlescent Goblin Wave Shredder or Red Flying Cloud can be mounted underwater in Siren Isle. So maybe they are still bugged depending on where you are trying to mount them.

Edit: This bug also affects the new Soweezi’s Vintage Waveshredder that is for sale on Siren Isle.
