PC Gamer Interview: Majority of Midnight class changes were last minute

How do I become a Grief Specialist?

It’s fairly clear the “get rid of everything all at once” command came down from outside Blizz. Why else would they decide to push it when they now have to scramble with everything else, especially something as critical as mass class changes.

Looks like unsubscribing when Midnight is released is the only option. Give it time, watch the forums/simp sites, they will eventually get their act together. Better to not be paying while they do that and building up more negative feelings about something we should be doing for fun.

Been saying it for years: hire some of these addon developers.

I will wait to see what it looks like.

But if the classes/specs are as gutted as they are in the alpha… I see no reason to stick around.

It’s showtime!

I mean what’s the worst that could happen, them killing the game? We will finally be free so it’s kinda a win win.

Yeah, it sure feels like last minute changes they did in a completely haphazard and nonsensical fashion.

Their reasoning of removing addons doesn’t even make sense since they’re pruning a bunch of abilities that have no special things to track other than cooldown.

Can’t, they gotta hire foreign workers on slave visas for a fraction of the going rate.

The only reason to go into Alpha or Beta is to help them debug the system. That is why they have Alpha and Beta test.

But…but…people kept telling me to give blizz a chance, to have faith in this new version, that anyone pointing out how sudden the changes were is an elitist monster?

Shocked! Shocked I tell you!

Like directly from him in the interview.

They literally made the decision to change their approach to the addon stuff and when they mentioned that to some players the response was “okay so what are we supposed to do about _______” and the team literally went “Oh yeah…that’s true” and had to throw together a majority of these class changes.

Seems to be their MO these days. :dracthyr_shrug:

I swear I think if the devs truly wanted to screw the players regardless of addon status, they need to make every boss ability and mechanic random, choose from a pool of a dozen or so the the computer randomly does one. And make sure there are no warning signs sent via UI beyond the visual casting animation. That would make it more realistic and frankly much funnier for world first issues, lol. The only reason raids are boring beyond the tight openings is the fact they are scripted, not unexpected tactics used by an intelligent opponent.

It is incredibly obvious this was a last minute decision and that class design in midnight lacks forethought or meaningful consideration

12.0 is going to be a bloodbath. 50x worse than the 11.0 M+ changes. Get ready boys.

My biggest concern is if the encounter designers are on the same page, especially with the defensive pruning.

Yeah, I am expecting it to be a rough pre-launch and first month or so into midnight. They have so much on their plates and I just don’t believe they have the man power to complete it all. Overhauling all 40 specs, when they can’t even get class balance right when transitioning into an expansion?

I suspect some specs are going to come out in genuinely a half finished state. I’m just going to main devourer for the first season, it’s their new spec so it’ll be finished :skull:

Hate to be a class developer at Blizzard, they have to be hella stressed.

That is probably a safe bet!
